Best Chillout Music

Hey all,

I hope this is the right place to post this, im lookin for some really good chillout music, Heard some really good stuff in a bar on holidays, but the guy behind the bar had put most of it together himself so and he didnt have much english so it was hard for me to actually find out what it was all called.
Basically im lookin for some stuff to chillout to thats a kind of a very light dance chillout music. Im finding it hard to explain so i dunno.....maybe someone could recommend some stuff?
I was listening to some Buddha Bar, but its not exactly what im lookin for.
Any suggestions are welcome :pac:

OP : Check out Stan Getz on You Tube. His version of "Girl from Ipanema" is very laid back. Also take a look at "Blue in Green" by Miles Davis.

You should give this album a try. It was released on the famous Blue Note jazz label, but it's very much an electronica/funk, housey, acid-jazz kind of record. It sold well over a million copies. A classic!

Seven posts in and no-one's mentioned the Orb? For me they are the epitome of the genre

Ibizarre series from a few years back are some great kick back summery tunes...what I nearly always put on on a sunday after a heavy night.

Banco de Gaia did some great chillout without being cliché, FSOL put a really hard edge to their ambient stuff but it works both as "dance music" and as a more mellow soundscape.
Also really liking Nightmares on Wax at the moment, having dug up Carboot Soul again for a listen.

Others that spring to mind for a listen; Zero7, Aphex Twin, Jose Padilla (DJ sets or own productions), Fila Brazillia.

Royksopp make some lovely music. This year they have/are releasing Junior/Senior a two part album. First part was released in Spring with a more upbeat sound and the second part will be released in August with a more Downtempo sound. Nice. I'd reccomend any of their albums.

Cafe Del Mar do all that sort of Chillout stuff but I find a lot of the tracks on their collections are repetitive or too simple or something. Hope that helps.

Totally forgot about this one but the Trinity Sessions by Cowboy Junkies is probably one the best chill out albums ever. Their version of Sweet Jane got the thumbs up from Neil Young himself.
Recorded in a church, it also contains great versions of Im so lonesome I could cry.

you can get an awful lot better than him though. How about some of the following Portishead, Nitin Sawhney, Jean Michel Jarre, the minimum techno stylings of Ricardo Villalobos, however you stated it was dance sort of chill out. I suggest Late Night Alumni if you can find them or Linus Loves. otherwise try some of the buddha bar compilations or the hed kandi chilled ones
