Sky coverage of Super League

As I have said previously in other threads, I am a new (5 years) convert to the joys of Rugby League and was used to football commentators on the TV politely agreeing with each other.

Now I have the genuine pleasure of listening to Eddie and Stevo bickering like a married couple, Phil adding his two pence worth and which ever coach they have in the studio.

I think it works brilliantly and I really look forward to the endless discussions about video referee decisions. T-R-Y or NO T-R-Y. I'm am sad enough to even like the music they play on the replay of the try.

I like the BBC's coverage of the challenge cup but I think the camera work sometimes let it down.

Do you think there are any improvements that could be made to the coverage, do you find the presentation style enjoyable or annoying, has sky been a good thing for Rugby League?

I've not been watching all that much lately, but I'll agree with most of what you said. There are times when they're wrong and everything else, but I love the bickering, and the fact that they're not afraid to give out about referees, which the soccer commentators seem to have sworn an oath of silence on.

Load of rubbish. Soccer comms always bitch about the referee. In fact they take it to ridiculous levels at times. Andy Gray on the Last Word on Sunday breaking down situations(with the benefit of slow mo and multiple camera angles, multiple times) chastising the refs for split second decisions. In fact a huge chunk of Sky Sports football coverage during the season goes on the referee and that always starts with the co commentator giving out during the game. Its the same on RTÉ, BBC ect.

Didn't pay much attention through the 08-09 season but there was a huge shift from 06-07 to 07-08 in how they spoke about referees, there was very little criticism that season on Sky.

Have to say I find Stevo's vehemently-held opinions (which range from bizarre to ludicrous) rather tiresome.

Would much rather have Phil Clarke as the co-commentator as at least his opinions have a strong basis in statistics and fact.

If Sky could replace Stevo for Paul Cullen id be a happy man.
