A band of very heavy and persistent rain with embedded thunderstorms will cross the country during the day reaching all parts by late afternoon. Some flooding is likely with amounts of 30mm and more widely. Parts of the West that have already had land slides and flooding like Co Mayo and Donegal, along with Munster and South Leinster will have the heaviest rain. Winds really picking up aswell turning Southeasterly overnight. A horrible afternoon and evening on the East and South coasts. Very wet and windy.

Temperatures still reaching the high teens though.

thanks for that darkman, you were quite right last week with your warnings, do you think we'll see thunderstorms to the extent of last week and the effects to the same extent?
meanwhile over at met eireann, they have only issued a gale warning, nothing about rain or thunderstorms, they seem to be asleep and only wake up to issue vague weather forecasts, you should really be over there doing the forecasts :p

    lol!

Individually it is unlikely any thunderstorms would be as bad as last week. We have lost that warm and humid airmass. However heavy rain should be expected in all areas tomorrow evening. It may be the case that the storms that do occur die out before reaching the midlands and east early tomorrow night but you can never be certain. Disruption is certain tomorrow evening though.

The storms most likely to occur later in the day and may be embedded so it will be hard to tell if there is one on the way or not. Just watch for those reds, or preferably whites, on radar.;)

Hate to be at Oxegen tomorrow! :P

People in areas that are prone to flooding really should take note of this. Basically looks like that for many parts of the country it's going to rain from about midday to night, with several hours of that being heavy rain. Among that heavy rain will be pockets of torrential downpours.

yes i agree thats a good warning.

get out or have plenty of sandbags if your near those rivers that have burst their banks before.it really could get that bad.

There is also a 2 metre swell to develope through the course of the evening entering all along southern coastal counties.combine that after the heavy rain and we really could see serious flooding

There she blows! latest radar image and 3 hour rain forecast.

Rain is as intense as forecast on radar with occasional torrential downpours in the Southwest. Overall timing looks the same as forecast and the rain looks very persistent. Should reach all areas by 6 this evening - generally between 3 and 5 for the East. Still looks like it will pep up along the South coast through the afternoon. A good few hours of persistent heavy rain - expect a few swollen rivers tonight.

Latest 3 hour forecast is rare for this time of year!

Imminent here, SE wind gives biggest totals here so wouldnt be surprised to see 40mm + by midnight despite the late start.

You will at least get close to 40mm I reckon.

Oxegen soaking should be beginning right about now:pac:

Should reach Dub in the next hour or so. Wind picking up here.

Activity sparking on radar across the midlands now - showing very heavy periods of rain in the last half hour, bordering on torrential. Also in the Southwest - when you see red and white (torrential downpour) it's more then likely some thunder and lightning is around aswell.

It's just a distortion. It's called "anaprop". It happens regularly especially near mountains.

Very much heavier rain arriving here now , SKY signal lost , a sure sign
    of a downpour .

Tipping it down here since about 3pm-Quite heavy.
Won't be recording much of course because I've still to repair the leaning tower of piza [my rain guage is at an angle :o]

    Whats your location?

Just started a light drizzle here in West Dublin in the past 15 minutes
Its 15.50 now, a little windier.
Any ideas when this will clear from the Dublin area?
