Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    Hi,

im buying in the uk in the next 2 weeks and i am wondering is it worth goin for a 320 diesel BMW coupe over a 320i coupe considering 320i's r few grand cheaper??

please help as I prefer the economy of the diesel but the price of petrol is appealing....

    thanks in advance

Work out how many miles you do PA. Work out the cost to fuel each car for a year and then take off the tax difference.

The diesel will certainly have a much better resale value and at about 20mpg better than the equivalent 320 will save you a few quid on fuel.

I'd get the cleanest 6cyl petrol I could find (330i are going cheap) just for the better driving experience if I could afford to. But then I'm an idiot. It's a heart vs head trade-off tbh

No it's not worth it if they are as you say a few grand more, that's a lot of petrol. Plus no turbo worries.

thers been no turbo troubles on the new E90, E91 and E92 diesels so far, not that ive of any well. judging the OP's other posts he is looking at new shape BMW's.

as above, youve got to work out your mileage and work out if the price difference between the two will make up for the higher cost of the diesel cat to buy.

Which would be the easier to sell on a 320d or a 320i? You may save a couple of grand now to end up with a car that may be harder to sell/trade in. Of course if we lived in a perfect world that wouldn't mater.

I gather many owners of the 320i are unhappy with engine reliability - a quick google might be a good idea.

If I were looking at the 320i then I would check out the price of them here first, resale value on them here is poorer due to lower demand because the general Irish motorist is afraid of the extra running costs. Remember if buying in the UK the VRT will be higher on the petrol model which might mean that you might not be saving much over buying one here:
