Yep... Even if you went to the hassle of sticking Windows on it, you would then realise that the integrated graphics are a steaming pile of poo...
Chances are you wouldn't even be able to play something on low quality

You could install Win7 yourself, its free, and add a budget card like this, so for an extra 50 euro it'd be relatively OK, but at the end of the day its still a single core machine. The LE is AM2 as well, so it means you could upgrade in future to a dual core AM2 CPU.

I'm going to go against the grain on this one and say yes, yes it would play the latest games.

Not even medium settings, I think you could well run "World of Goo", "Peggle" or "Plants vs Zombies" at maximum, eye bleeding, graphical settings on that beut.

It would be an ok PC for poker and ze puzzle games mentioned above. Anything more and you'd get cpu/gpu lag.

Thanks all. My current PC can't play games newer than 2003 and I think the harddrive is getting a bit iffy. So I think im due an upgrade.
Can anyone recommend a system that won't require me to sell a kidney? But one that can handle 2009 games reasonably well?

That M15X is pretty good to be honest , yeah youre paying alot of money but youre paying for the warranty alienware give you and the quallity of their product.

The older M15X (Area 51) isnt that great and had a couple of bugs throughout the system but the new 2010 models are immense

The Hardware market will always getting a better Profit Margin on users who don't have the knowledge. They see "Oooh! Alienware!" Grab it because the brand is synonimous with high performance and go home happy. Kinda the same reason I don't lose sleep over Best Buy's Geek Squad.
