On to tomorrow. A very unsettled and thundery period has started

Tomorrow morning in particular looks bad with thunderstorms probrably widespread - probrably improving a bit later into the afternoon. But some beefy activity tomorrow morning and early afternoon.

Met Eireann currently have a yellow awareness via Meteoalarm

Some serious stuff now about to hit Dublin from the South - prepare for a nasty afternoon. A few rumbles of thunder also likely with flash flooding.

Elsewhere very bad conditions in the midlands and south of the country. Clearing gradually from the Southwest late this afternoon and early tonight.

Thunder could well be possible as that blob just started to grow in intensity as it hit mid wexford.
Rain rate hit 105.2mm/hr at one stage here with just roaring noises of rain and streams of water.

Looks like it's continued to grow further heading towards Dublin.

Moderate to heavy rainfall atm - nothing particularly bad for the moment. No sign of excessive surface water yet. Id say that will change over the next few minutes!

Fairly intense rain here! 43.2mm/hr at the moment with 8.4mm since it started..really glad oxegen finished yesterday and not today:p

Things seemed to have died down in Dublin, is that the worse of it over/ or is it only the start? The red cells from the UKMO seem to have died down.

    Full sun here now.

That activity over Kilkenny seems to be moving NE (towards Dublin). Looking at http://www.sat24.com/gb, I am hoping that with the bit of heat, this develops further!

While driving home form waterford to South Kilkenny after work today, I could see the huge anvil-shaped thunderstorms lined up over North Kilkenny. A spectacular sight. Wish I had my camera

huh!! come on folks, less of the thunder and rain, more sunshine pleeeease!!!

A few flashes of lightning very close by, over the course of 5 minutes, arrived here 10 minutes ago. First time that I've even heard thunder since this spell of unsettled weather started. Now, all i'd like is for the rain to go away!

Another day of storms and heavy showers tomorrow. Initially the showers will be in the South before spreading countrywide after midday. All areas at risk especially the West and North West of the country later tomorrow afternoon.

    Rtavn2411.png

The convergence of winds in the west, along that line, expect big convective showers. If flooding does occur it is most likely here.

Tomorrow evening the showers will move North - South in the West and South - North in the East. The rotation should be well visible on radar.

Level 1 alert for much of Ireland - chance of excessive rainfall, and err... 'spouts'.

    " ...Ireland...

Given slow storm motion in the trough that stretches over the country, good 0-3 km CAPE and weak winds, spouts can form, as well as locally large precipitation sums. "

The low is showing up really nicely on the visible sat - http://www.sat24.com/Region.aspx?country=eu&sat=vis&type=loop
