Any one have either of these beauties?
I know they are insanley expensive but I would give my right arm for either!

m200 Yes the ugly sister of the dsr1 but so much more practicle with spring and gas powered bolt.
Real world feild stripping and pure airsoft porn make this beautiful but it's twice the price of it's better looking sister the dsr1!

    The dsr1 oh it's pretty!
Yes it's pretty! It's a gas sniper that comes with two mags and did it's half the price of the m200.
Not as practicle but when was sniping practicle in airsoft?

yes they are both indulgent anti resession airsoft toys but what the he'll one can dream.

The practicalities versus the price are just not worth thinking about.

So which one would you have? And remember the sheckals!

The DSR is one of the worst looking rifles I've ever seen. It's clearly an over-thought design by an artist from an anime comic. I'd expect to see something like that in Akira or Gundam Wing.
It also looks awkward to use, but I can't confirm or deny that. The positioning of the bolt and fire selector just seem totally wrong compared to where the trigger group is. For bonus points, spot the spelling mistake on the receiver.

The M200 looks pretty good, certainly better than the DSR. Changing from gas to spring is a nice feature. It's oversized for what it is, but it's just following a real world model so that can't be helped.

If I was forced to choose... I'd take a VSR and use the rest of the money to tart it up beyond belief, then use the sizeable amount left over to go on a holiday.
Sniping can be practical, if you use a practical rifle and a bit of field craft. Neither of those would be considered a practical rifle.

As much as I like the look of the DSR 1, the Ares model is way off the real thing in a few areas and the quality from what I have seen in youtube reviews is very poor for the price of it. I was going to order one a while back until I saw the review of it and now I'd never consider one unless it was about €100.

The M200 on the other hand looks decent enough.

Right now though I'm interested in the new Well gas powered AW.338

I am an M200 fanboi and i never really liked the DSR, however, when i held it everything came clearer. its a beautiful gun to hold and its a work of art. i have heard of reliability problems with it and parts arnt exactly pouring out of china/japan so i dont think i would be willing to drop so much money on it really. its still a work of art though. :)

Hey dex, met a few friends of yours the other week. Sibhe and jonathan.

Ok not into comics or blondes so maybe I have bad taste but the dsr looks the ****s to me.
I already have a bar 10 with some gucci internals shooting 327fps on the button.
So I don't want the dsr or m200 for practicality. I want it for fun and the odd frollic!

What other gas snipers are out there that look as good as these?
I could always buy a gas bolt for the bar 10 and save myself alot of money.

    Cheers for the imput dex

^^^ What he said. For the money, that's shaping up to be a wicked little gun.

Failing that, if you truly want to blow some dough, I'd go for that M200. I actually like the look of it myself. If you specifically want a high performance gas rifle though, I'd say look at the Tanaka and Maruzen ranges, specifically at M700's. At least there'll be compatible spares obtainable and they've got a proven history. Sure they're not as unusual looking but with sniper rifles you either get over-the-top originality (see recent upsurge in Barrett replicas) or top class performance in something rather more plain (generally an M700 or AW variant).

Where'd you manage to meet those two? I haven't seen them for weeks.

Yep that well is nice! The cheap variants of that gun are really upsetting to look at.
But the quality of the finish looks good on that one.
Can you lads get us a price on that seen as the plebs can't import any more!
    Yeh I have a barret m99 comming very soon(hopefully)

oh I met them at a party in longord of all places, shot the he'll out of eachother for a bit. Both of them are good craic.
You gotta get johnathan out to a skirmish though!

Richey, your lacking in gucci if you don't buy that well sniper.

That's actually the first cheap variant of that gun. The only other previous one is by Ares and runs about 600 smackers. You may be thinking of the L96 which has a number of cheap versions available and looks very similar. The only differences really are that the AW338 is a tad longer, has a hinged stock, a protruding magazine and a fluted barrel with a muzzle brake. Most of which are changes you wouldn't notice at first.

He has mentioned something about wanting to get out before. It was a while ago though so I'm not sure if he's still up for it.

Thanks for putting my un-educated ignorence in check, still learning what's out there!
I agree johnathan is a pussy cat compared to saidbh, she drank me under the table and was talking about gettin kitted up for airsoft.
You will probably be hearing from her soon.

Cheers again, I really have to cut the credit card though!

The other versions of the ''L96'' are actually the AW Covert as they have the intergrated silencer built into the barrel. With only till now Star/Ares doing the AW.338. The AI AW can be converted to use the .300, .308 and .338 ammo so the name varies depending on the barrel fitted.

The AW.338 is the L96 as that is the UK MoD designation. Its like the SA80/L85 thing. It is the SA80 but it's the L85 to the UK armed forces. The P226 is the L110 or something like that.

Yeah but I'm going by the airsoft product names to save confusion. Switching between RS and airsoft names for things like this tends to get more than a tad confusing. Traditionally airsoft has drawn a distinction between the L96 in it's .308 format and the L96 in it's .338 format so as to point out the body and operation variations.
