Looking a second hand double barrel, nothing fancy, just something for the odd rabbit/pigeon etc. My local gun shop owner has quoted me a price of €630 for a second hand baikal, which seems a little pricey to me for a very simple gun (non ejector etc). Is is possible to pick up a decent dbarrel below €500?

I would think you would get a grand second game one for 500. Just make sure the barrels arnt scored.

cheers guys. Yeah i was a bit shocked by the €630 quote myself! Although maybe i shouldnt be too suprised as the gun shop has recently been taken over and seems to be specialising in top of the range stuff :( gone are the days when you could pick up a box of cartriges for €5!

Pricey? It's cuckoo land. With that budget you should be able to pick up a decent second hand O/U or a Semi Auto. Take your time, shop around and above all, try make sure the gun fits properly. Don't be rushed into a quick purchase by any dealer. On the basis that you've been at least 16 years without a gun, another few weeks won't make any difference.

Cheers Jim, I'll do that. I'm in no hurry anyway, the old single barrel is fine for what i want to do for the time being!

Glad to hear that you can still get cartridges for €5 in some places, my local guy stocks nothing but high velocity anymore :(
