Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Ok folks, not sure if this is the right place to post this, so mods if you want to move it somewhere mosr suitable please do so.

Basically I came across this photo on a backup disk today, taken in 2006. It was taken with an old point & shoot I had, and I had to rush the shot before my daughter caught me! It was a very misty day, so there was no definition to the sky at all and the light was poor.

My challenge is to see who can do the best job of modifying, correcting and otherwise improving the photo. Anyone fancy a try at it?

alright all, just wondering if there is any chance that people could post up what processing they have done to accompany their 'pimped' version of the image provided by the OP, as it would be very beneficial to those of us tipping away at photoshop and maybe we could try these various techniques on photos of our own....
    just a taught.
    Regards

    Post processing:

I use The Gimp. Here's how I learnt to do this... even though it's not *exactly* what I did it's pretty close:

here's my attempt. The girl's hat in the picture made me think '1970s' so I tried to get a washed out look

Masked the kid, brightned her up a bit, inverted the same selection on new layer and blurred the backround and darkend the image over all. Droped a new sky in and tried mirroring it in the water (not happy with the join at the trees).
