1998 mini cooper mpi

    hi my 98 mini cooper engine just shat itself i need a complete engine or gearbox it's the gear box that's gone but i'd say there's fillings gone up into the engine?
    it's the mpi engine with a black block is the gearbox the same as the old single point engine?

    any ideas where i would get a gearbox or a comnplete engine?

    You'll get both from O'Learys classic Mini specialists in Cork. 021 4877158. They've been building classic Minis and restoring them for years and can rebuild entire gearboxes from scratch too.

    They also do superchargers for the Mpi engine :)

    It depends where you live - there are several dedicated Mini specialists in Dublin and one very good place in Galway. Have a look here - http://www.irishminis.ie/forum/

    It may be possible to rebuild what you have - you need to find a good Mini mechanic though.

    I'm not a fan of the Cork place but everyone has their favourites. I have several 998 and 1275 engines but they are from much older Minis and no use to you.

    i need a diff for the mini thats all but i cant get on the mini forum that the link is for above any ideas

    I had an MPI - My gearbox went too, (secodn gear kept slipping) - Got it replaced in a place called Minibitz in Ballylooby in Cahir about 2 years ago. They were very reccommended
