Just wondered what people's thoughts are on this You tube 16 week challenge.

    .

The above video is week 1, there are 15 more (conveniently linked in this vid using the annotation system).

Now I'm ignoring the 'Ripped Abs' marketing line because to be honest, these vids don't tell you anything about diet, it's all just exercise. The thing I do like about it is the simplicity of it in terms of compound exercises and not much need for equipment.

It's NOT a body building programme but it does seem good for anyone who wants to get a bit fitter and more 'toned', providing they eat relatively clean.

At first I thought it was like Crossfit but there's too many exercises in each workout, so far as I know CF is more about having a few exercises and doing as many sets as possible for time...I know ColmOReilly and others will know more about that than me :D

So what do people think? If you do let rip, highlight the positives as well as the negatives.

I love them TBH, working through my own adaptation of it and getting good results, as OP says there's nothing about diet in it but for a training program I think it's great.

I don't think you should give an obvious marketting ploy any more net time than it deserves. There's plenty of info in the stickies and plenty of trainers on this for anyone who wants to get ripped abs.

That's why I said 'I'm ignoring...marketing line' and asking for a critique.

I've read the stickies and asked questions here before. I see people asking about CrossFit all the time so I thought I'd ask the trainers here on the site about this. That's all. :)

Well pullups, pushups, DB squats = Good.

    Progressing at them = Good.

So if this gives you a structure to try and progress at them then what harm. A few of the other vids on that Youtube profile are pretty good. He seems to have some kind of link to Jim Smith of Dieselcrew who is pretty much on the money all the time.

Anything that emphasizes abs is always a red light for me but I suppose he's just trying to get hits from what the general public will search for. It wasn't 16 weeks of crunches which is what I was expecting.

Wouldn't be my first choice but it's not the biggest load of crap you'll find on Youtube.

Yeah, I was surprised when I saw it, my original search term was 'pull-up demonstration' or similar and the same guy has a good demo on how to get your body used to pull ups, then I searched his other vids and found this programme.

I do like the way the cardio is based on a HIIT principle but some more instruction on the benefits, substitution exercises and diet advice would be good but then I guess he'd be giving it all away for free. I do recognise it's limited but it's one of the better series of vids I've seen out there. Then again, I'm not as knowledgeable on this stuff as most of the people here so criticism welcome...especially before I go ahead and start this routine!!
