Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Photos of Rain

So I just looked at the 10 day weather forecast and its doesn't make for good viewing. Dying to get out and do some snapping but looks like the weather will limit our snapping time.

So as they saying goes if you can't beat them, join them.

Does anyone have any good photo's of rain/puddles/general crap weather for inspiration?

And I'm sure there's a few interesting stories on people captured them too...??

    Willy

    Hey WillyWonka

Took these yesterday. It lashed and the back garden was like a monsoon.

Overcast and rain makes for the most dramatic black and white images, especially if you shoot with infrared filters. :)

It was lashing it down during this shot (also my entry to the current photo challenge)

Mind you - most shots I took that day were shocking as for some reason I thought that a €50 tripod would keep my camera steady on a windy day :o

Best tip for going out in the rain; wear waterproof clothing or you'll be so miserable that you'll probably just give up and go home.

Unless it's a constant grey drizzle there's some beautiful moments just before/after a heavy shower. I took this whilst out for a drive in West Cork on Sunday evening just as the heavens opened up:

Here are a few. The last one is not really of rain but I like it.

Not sure if they are really good examples, but those I took on an outing to Glendalough with DCC about a month ago.

These are to show the rain:

This one (sorry, think I posted it before in the random) is to show that there are places that become even more interesting in rain or almost rain, like Glendalough or Connemara (imo).

Did I mention that I go nowhere without my umbrella? ;)

You can get some really dramatic landscapes in this sort of weather, you have to be willing to get soaked in order to capture them though :p Focussing on the smaller things though, can lead to some interesting results aswell. These aren't executed brilliantly but you get the idea.

Well I think this photo fits under the "cr*p weather" category - there is rain in there but I was distracted by something else ;)

Hehe - read about how I almost got hit by a bolt when I decided to climb to the top of the roof to take some photos of the thunderstorm.

Dutchguy: what tripod do you have? I've found that you can get some good value tripods at 50 euro that are very stable (I bought a second hand 330dx slik pro tripod - before that I was using a 5 euro one ;) )

Not the best, but I liked it, at the time.
