Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

When You Can't Buy From Uk- A Company Does it For you?

I think I remember reading in this forum about a company/website that basically buys the item you want from a uk only site has it sent to their address and then sends the purchase onto your address in Ireland. And obviously they charge a fee.

Can someone help me out here. Ever heard of this?

I want to buy a suit from Hugo Boss it costs 795 in Brown Thomas and 330 online but they don't send to Ireland. Grrrrrr Brown Thomas and their exclusive contracts.

www.my-uk-mail.co.uk does that. You have to pay a £17 initial charge and then I think they charge 11% of the price of the item if you ask them to purchase it with their credit card on your behalf. I've used it once to buy a medical device and some other things and found their service excellent. I saved hundreds of euros at the time by using them. You can pay by paypal too so it cuts out having to give your own cc details to anyone. I found that as soon as my mail arrived in their warehouse they emailed me and asked when I want it sent and gave me delivery options with prices so I could decide. They sent it by courier and it arrived next day. It's expensive certainly but in relation to what you're saving it's still pretty good.

Did you get a bill for duty/charges because it was shipped from uk. Im not referring to the private charges from the my-uk but the government tax etc

Sinead is correct there. There are no extra import charges when buying from the UK. Some companies that sell over a certain amount to Ireland , like amazon for instance, charge an Irish VAT rate rather than a UK rate but that happens at the checkout of those stores. There are no extra charges over and above what you pay at the online checkout associated with buying from the UK.
