For those of you - like me - who are away at lot at work there is the PV2 form.

The PV2 form is for those, due to occupation, cannot get to a polling booth. This includes certain students

The PV1 form is for those due to health reasons cannot get to a polling booth

Top marks to Meath County Council for making these easily available.
But you fill it out and return it to the local council - electoral section.

Unlike the UK, you need to apply for each and every Ballot, but hey, its a form and a stamp to take part in our democracy

    Civicly Yours

Anyone know if there's a facility to vote if you're simply out of the country on the day (rather than being sent there by your job) ?

    thanks!

I have found out today I will be in Italy for the week up to and including Oct 2nd. I still want to vote however and so is there any way I can do so?

I think it's too late to register for a postal vote but if anyone can point me in the right direction or advise on what I can do it would be much appreciated.

    Thanks in advance.

Just to answer my own question I called my local county council who said that postal votes are only permitted in exceptional circumstances and in any case applications closed over a month ago.

Hence there is no way I can vote. :(

    Bring on online voting.

    Overseas voters
If you are an Irish citizen living abroad you cannot be entered on the Register of electors. This means that you cannot vote in an election or referendum here in Ireland. (The only exception to this is in the case of Irish officials on duty abroad (and their spouses) who may register on the postal voters list).
