    * A Dublin family with three children can get €42,000 a year when all the social welfare payments they are entitled to are combined, the report explains.

    * Tax experts said yesterday this family would need to get a job paying at least €55,000 to come out with the same amount of money after tax.

    * But the average industrial wage is €33,000 before tax, which means there is little incentive for the adults in a family like this to take up an average-income job -- if they could get one.

are the figures in this article for real  why am I busting my balls working and paying taxes thru the nose (small SME)?

There's been similar threads to this all over boards - so yes, the figures are real.

I think one of the threads in particular referred to a letter in the Indo one day a couple of months ago which was stating the amount of money a married man with 3 kids can get.

And yes, while i do believe that benefits are there for a reason - this amount is sickening.

The socialists will be out defending the payments about how these are the most vulnerable people in society and how they need more money than the rest of us becuase their parents didnt tell them they were loved when they were children.

    true

this really killed all my will to work this morning (and recently receiving another tax bill)

why should i bother working an employing people (small SME)? why getup for work and bust my balls?

oh man i feel really ****ty now, paying for other peoples mortgages and kids while i have none :(

if these figures are close then these people make more money than me for not working, how does that compute?

argghghghhghgh sorry just in very bad mood now

    angry regards
