After quick google Ive come up with 'All Seasons' in the Whitewater shopping centre and some place called Outdoor Equipment retailer near Naas that may help...otherwise try Millets or K2 in Dublin.. alternatively try online for millets...

Try Kildare Village, I'm sure you'll find a decent enough pair in the North Face or Tog24.

Might be worth checking the outdoor pursuits forum.
If you're doing alot of hiking, it would be best to buy something before you go and break them in first.
Also, invest in some good hiking socks (€10-20 or so). Important for cushioning the feet and drawing the heat/sweat away.

You can get them in most outdoor stores. Try the Scout Shop on Liffey Street in Dublin. And definitely invest in hiking socks, and break in your boots before you go, or you could end up with loads of very sore blisters.

Most outdoor sport places have them. Don't scrimp on hiking boots because they last years and years and it's so important to have a good fit. I have tiny bony ankles and lower calves so it's hard for me to find boots that fit there. I'd spend about 120-150 on a pair.

    Enjoy Africa!

I have to agree with all of the above - get a decent pair of boots and a couple of pairs of socks. Blisters sound sooooo tame but believe me, if you get them while walking they make your life an absolute misery. Really important to break the boots in beforehand.

53 Degrees North out in Blachardstown do that sort of thing!

You should be able to get a good pair around the 100-120 mark.. first pair I got were alright, but only paid 50 euro. You definitely get what you pay for.
Got a new pair few months back of Hi-Tech and find them very comfy. Be careful about weight of the boots- I didn't think of this before I bought. I find mine a bit heavy starting out hiking and near the end :) but they were worth the 115 euro I paid.

I got boots for my trip to NZ in the Great Outdoors, Chatham St. Cost about 100 euro. They were great in there - they measured my feet which I haven't had done since I was a kid - turns out I'm 6 and a half not 6! Anyway I found great, lightweight boots and they fitted me for insoles which made them all the better. I also got good hiking socks in there (which, incidentally, are super-comfortable and I wear them as often as I can, even around the house).

I got a really good pair in TK Maxx a few years back, they were caterpillar. Bout €40 or €50.
If you want a really good pair, go to the specialist shops mentioned above, Millets, The Outdoor Store, even try the Outlet

Army Bargins, just off Capel Street, at the AIB bank. Have gotten all my hiking boots for the last 15 years there. The owner of the shop is knowledgeable, and has been able to advise me on what boots would suit me. Spend about €100 to €150 on my boots. They usually last 6 to 9 months (wearing them everyday), and are totally waterproof.
