Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Hiya guys and gals. Was travelling up to Dublin yesterday from waterford and knew i was going to pass by that famous tree so i whipped out the camera and took a quick pic as the bus sped by. I am pleasantly surprised myself at the results of the shot. Was wondering what you guys thought.
As Always C&C welcome and appreciated :).

It's before carlow if your travelling from waterford yes, on the leighlinbridge/bagenalstown side of carlow. This tree appears in many photography forums regularily, i had never taken a photo of it so this was my take on the scene.

Yup Yup the main road. I thought the downside was the speed of the bus but the height kinda worked to my advantage

cool thanks for that kyle, i'll try a different approach on number two, maybe take it a step further.any suggestions?

This hahs been suggested to me too, but nothing i really want to do to change it to be honest with regard to the location of the tree. I suppose i could offset it and clone in some more land to either the left or the right, but i'm balancing that with the fact that cloning could show up some fatal flaws.

How about processing it as a different photo? Crop it in half(a little bit more than half) forgetting about the tree and only use the bottom bit. Really exaggerate the field and lines it already has...

The first one is really good, but I feel it'd be better without the vignette.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,557 ✭✭✭DotOrg

seems i'm alone, i don't like the first one, colour is too processed looking for me, but i love the second one, looks like a movie still

you mean only have a small photo of the field and the lines in it.

Really i actually thought it was the vignette that made it. what do others think?

I liked my black and white version that i didn't post the most to be honest, but noone else seemed to like it. My second favourite is the second one that you like.

I'm just using a preset in LR that i have and then i tinker with the selective colour. I also work on the clarity and saturation afterwards.

I was trying to get shots of Ben Bulben from a moving car the other day - easier said than done, so nice one!

    I'd like to see a straight B&W?

It's not easy i fired off the shutter the first time and it was all blurry so i leaned back in the seat and panned the scene and it seemed to work. Only got one photo so i'm lucky.

Oh btw there are some b/w versions on my pixie account.
    Just click here

Thanks for your comment sinead :)
