    Hi everyone,

Thanks for all your advice. Last week I brought him back to the breeder who was very understanding and she will keep him with her dogs and work on his socialisation until he can be rehomed (with someone who doesn't have young children, maybe a family member of hers). I've been in touch with her since and he's doing pretty well there.

One thing I've taken from this is that if we ever get another puppy, we will ignore the vet's advice to not bring a new puppy out until he's had all of his vaccinations. There should be a huge big banner across every new puppy's forehead warning about how important the socialisation period is!

    Thanks all.

Many many people get a puppy and manage to heed their vets advice while still ending up with a well balanced pup. Of course it's not your fault, but it's not your vets either. The problems you described in your post were mainly based in your home anyway.

Unless extreme circumstances prevent it, a dog should always be vax'd before brought out into the wide world. The diseases that can be picked up are really terrible, sometimes of them fatal. So your vets advice was well on the mark. I'm sorry you had a bad experience, but please don't make it cause distrust in your vet.

Really glad your breeder took your pup back and he's doing so well. I hope you have better luck with your next dog!

We're looking to rehome this 12 week old (at a guess) black and white female kitten. We have 6 of our own which is more than enough for anyone....!

We found her in a nearby town, dirty and hungry and hanging around a petrol station. We have been unable to find any owner so far (although if she had an owner it doesn't look like she was well looked after...)

She is really friendly and affectionate, and doesn't get spooked by anything! Would make a great pet and would be good around kids etc. She could probably integrate with other cats easily enough (she isn't too bad with ours).

We're taking her to the vet tomorrow for an initial check up. We're only looking for dedicated, responsible owners here who are willing to vaccinate, worm etc. and most importantly spay.

We're living in South Tipp but may be willing to travel a bit for the right owner...

Just a quick update. We found a lovely home for her this evening with a young family and another young cat. :)

Sorry, but please do not do this. If you bring your pup out before hes had all his vaccinations you out them at serious risk of catching deadly diseases such as parvo and lepto.
Anyone i know, including myself have had pups and dont bring them out until they have had their vaccinations at around 12 weeks and are all fine and socialised well too and are very happy, friendly dogs.
The vet isnt telling you to not bring them out just for the fun of it, its for health reasons as your pup will not be fully covered against those diseases until the time is up/
Ive seen dogs with Parvo and its awful, they die a horrible death and rarely survive so why you would put your dog at risk for the sake of a week or 2 is beyond me.

my vet told me it was ok to bring my puppy out to my Mam's and my sister's house to interact with other dogs provided they were vaccinated before she was fully vax'd

Hi all. Just a quick note to say that my two little ones have now found brilliant new homes, with lovely families who seem really happy to have them. I couldn't be more pleased for the kittens, and "us humans"! I wanted to let you know and to say thanks to all those who got in touch about them. This Rehoming thread was a Godsend and my thanks to you for making it possible. Keep up the good work, the vulnerable furry ones who can't speak for themselves need you.

    Kind regards,
    Janmaree.

Thats not the same. Theres a big difference in bringing it to someones house than out walking on the streets where they can pick up diseases and infections.

Thanks for that but I got a cat a few weeks ago from the CSPCA and it had to be put down the next day. It was so dehydrated and obviously caught something in there. The vet said she has seen a lot of animals from there who don't make it. When I rang back to tell them what happened the girl couldn't care less. I definetly would NOT go back there (and would advise other people to be cautious) but wander has anyone been to the animal care society to get an animal? And, am I the only person who has had a bad experience with the CSPCA? I was so traumatised by that that I was hoping someone already had a cat they they could no longer home etc. I'll continue with my search, I guess..:D

The Cork animal care society are in no way affiliated with the CSPCA, they vaccinate and neuter any cat that comes in their door and would never rehome a sick animal like that. I personally know the people running it and they do amazing work. The CSPCA on the other hand dont really seem to care about the animals in their centre. I would definitely reccomend contacting the animal care society

My girls pups are 7weeks old now and almost ready for their new homes.

The litter of 7 were born 23rd Jan, one boy already has an excited owner eagerly awaiting his arrival! so there's 4 girls and 2 boys looking for their forever homes.:)

The pups are to be re-homed via MADRA so their adoption policy will apply. Please see their website for details.
    www.madra.ie
However, the pups will not be in MADRAs kennels and will be staying with me in their home (galway city) until their new families have been arranged.

Here is a link to an old thread of mine that explains the journey that led up to this and some pics of the little cuties!;)

    Hi Guys,

Posted here a week ago, but got no reply. I'm looking to adopt a female kitten, have been looking for a while but none around at the moment (I know kitten season starts soon but was hoping to adopt this month). I'm not looking for any particular breed, colour or anything, doesn't have to perfect, just looking for a kitty companion. Please, please can you contact me if you know anyone or have a kitten to offer! I am in the Wicklow/Dublin area but will travel to neighbouring counties.

    Cheers

If willing to travel to Mullingar check out:-

They always have kittens for adoption. Another board member used them recently and said their setup was very good.

George is just under 2 years old and most unusual looking! He is vaccinated and wormed and will be neutered this coming week. George doesn't like cats and poultry but adores other dogs and humans! He is NOT with EGAR but will be re-homed with EGAR guidelines, ie homevisit and contract apply. If you think George is for you, then please reply here or email EGARBullBreedRescueATgmail.com.

Hey guys, it is with a heavy heart that I have to rehome my 10 month old tom cat Boots. He is such a loveable kitty. Hes a tiger. He loves noting more than to curl up with you and purr his heart out. He also loves to play and just be doted on. He needs to be the king of his castle and also have access to safe outdoors as hes getting bored being stuck in at home.
I have 3 girls also and atm they are just getting crowded and on each others nerves. A friend of mine will be taking my girls for a while as I am pregnant and not coping well with the kitties :(
He is not yet neutered as I havent been able to afford it, but has not yet showed signs of attacking the girlys.
He is a tabby ginger kitty with not a patch of white on him, hes all tiger :)
Hes also pretty big for a house cat.
I havent been able to find any up to date pics of him atm. Will post one or 2 of him as a kitten. He is about 4 times that size now :)
He will come with his own bowl, as he loves it, and litter tray and a small supply of food. Also his pride and joy, His orange camo coloured collar. He gets all upset if he loses it.
Feel free to pm me at any time if you are interested in my baby. He will only go to someone who I know will take care of him. I live in cork btw.

Ohhh...that's such a sad post.Is there no way you could keep him?I'm sure he'd much rather stay with you.I'd love to only we have 2 already and that's about all we can manage.I hope someone lovely takes him, if you have to give him up.

  • Registered Users Posts: 106 ✭✭sweetnjuicy

Theres no way i can keep him :(
The poor kittys are driving me round the bend atm and i cant let them out cuz i live on a main road and have no yard. He needs some space, poor mite. Hes not even talking to me today cuz i kicked him outta bed last night :(
Still havent had the energy to find some newer pics of him, will get the BF to do it tomorrow.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 5,729 ✭✭✭Acoshla

Can I ask why you got him/the 3 other cats if you live on a main road and have no yard? That's a lot of cats to be trying to keep indoors :( I'd love to give him a home but I already have a big crazy boy cat and I don't think he'd like another, but I'll spread the word.

If there's anything like Galway Cat Rescue in Cork maybe contact them and they can help find him a home.

i had a garden in my last house, but had to move suddenly and didnt have much choice in it. Moving again in the next 3 months so getting a back then. But my friend is taking the girls next week, and I have no one to take boots :(

hopefully when i move house ill be able to take my girls back, but its not right to keep boots in doors he loves to play and hunt, and im just too sick atm to care for them properly. I also cant have 4 cats when baba arrives, too much hairs etc etc. and the litter is bad for me and the smell drives me round the bend atm.

You can try getting onto the Cork Animal Care Society
    West Cork Animal Care Society
    Cork Cat Action Trust
Dusty and Trouble's 2nd chance rescue (think they're only on facebook)
    or
Munster Lost And Found (they help rehome animals sometimes)

I have four indoor cats myself who have always been indoors and are perfectly happy. They have the full run of the house, a room dedicated to them with three scratching posts and they get new toys at least twice a month to keep them entertained so I dont see much of a problem having them inside.

I'm very sad to say that my partner and myself have to find a new home for our two cats as our new landlord does not allow pets on the premises.
A ginger tabby and a black cat(unneutered and male). They are extremely lovable, affectionate, and playful. As much as I tried to make them house cats, they love the outdoors but at the end of the day they will curl up on your bed and fall asleep for the night.

    012.jpg

    014.jpg

Also, large scratching post, travel cage, bed and litter tray all included.

If you are interested in rehoming them or know anyone that is looking to give two cats a loving home, mail me.

    Living in Bettystown, Co. Meath.

    Thank you.

We are unfortunately looking to REHOME our almost 10 month old, loving, energetic Collie X SpringerSpaniel. She is not suitable for a house with small kids.

She loves to walk and run, she loves attention and belly rubs and
scratching behind the ears. She loves ice cubes, carrots and peanut
butter in her Kong. She's a good watch dog.

She has had the best care since we've had her from 12 weeks, but sadly she needs more "running time." If you know of anyone that would like to take Millie please contact me.

We are in Kilcoole, Co Wicklow if you'd like to meet her.

    Thanks so much!!!

Home wanted for Coda, 18 month old female black lab/setter mix.

She is vaccinated, neutered, housetrained and leash trained. She is submissive to people, great with other dogs (large and small), she even sleeps in the same crate as my GSD, her temperment is brilliant all round. Having no kids myself I cannot promise she is kid friendly but she has never made any unwanted moves towards any of my neighbours kids or kids I have met on our walks. She is also cat friendly, having lived with a cat in her last home.

    Any questions, please ask.
