Yes Im looking for a pet to keep, ive been using the phrase "adopt" as ive been keeping an eye on animal shelters in search for one and they refer to it as adopting. So this answers your question about weather or not ive been checking shelters :)
Yes I plan to walk my new friend (when I get one) around the rugby fields 1/4 mile from my house in Wicklow town. Morning around 7am-8am, then again for an hour in the evening in the range of 6pm-11pm, I have a mid-small sized garden but I dont plan to keep him/her outside, I will have a bedroom for the pet in the house, in my experience of my brothers malamute they really crave human attention when there is no other malamutes around, and without plenty of attention they will howl, besides im used to having pets sleep in the house in the case of my brothers dog and my father-in-laws dog when we take them while owners are working nights/ off on holidays.

You shouldn't have too much bother finding one in rescue or pound, they have become a very common fashion accessory over the last few years only for them to be thrown in the backyard, tied up etc. try the irishanimals website, keep an eye out in rescues and ring your local pound if you are willing to adopt from the pound.

Ye ive been keeping an eye out, seen a few but none that are fully house trained ( i know this is very rare for malamutes/huskys ) but I would love one that I can let run free in the house without tearing the place apart, I used to keep my brothers in the house with me, it even slept in the bedroom with me, but we had it since it was a puppy ( he craved constant companionship, would howl all night if you tried leaving him outside).
If an adult isnt already house trained then there is pretty much no chance of house training it, I am going to keep an eye out for a house trained adult (ive seen one so far, waiting on reply via email) if I dont get any joy then im going to get a dog run for the garden and a kennel, im guessing 20 foot by 10 foot would do, for him/her to sleep in at night.

I also have a garden shed that is currently used to store a single bicycle lol, thinking of turning this into a huge kennel and building a dog run around this, that would be one hell of a dog run/ kennel :)

Im really not have much luck finding homes for my (5) big dogs.. lots of people express some interest then just.. fizzle out not to be heard from again. Ive been putting posters up in every shop and petrol station and Vets and Pet Stores I visit. Ive emailed everyone I know and gave them stacks of printouts. :(

Ive made this PDF (printable) with details, if anyone here knows someone (with a garden ideally) looking for a German Shepard or Malamute/Huskeys, send them my way:

Hi Matt, as you can see from my last post im planning on converting my shed into a kennel, I was hoping to get a house trained dog or a puppy that I could train myself that I could let loose in the house, I like the idea of giving my companion full reign of the house without ripping it apart :P Obviously with sled dogs this is rare to find such a trained one, so I have decided to convert my shed and make a large kennel/dog run, when I have this set up I will contact you to see if you still have one looking for a new home.
In the meantime I wish you good luck finding suitable homes, they look like such lovley, well looked after pets :)

I think you're being very sensible and clearly putting a lot of thought into this, which will really stand to you.
However, I think the above statement needs to be set right, because it's not true! Of course there will always be some dogs that never fully "get" housetraining if not taught as a pup, but most adult dogs are in many ways easier to housetrain than a puppy is. They are far more mobile, responsive, and quicker to cop new things on than the fudgy young puppy brain allows a puppy to be.

I know in my PM I wasnt totally hot on keeping these as house dogs, but its worth noting they arent bad in the house. Mine anyway will sleep in the house overnight without peeing/pooing or wrecking anything. However as I said, they much prefer being outdoors whenever possible and is better for their breathing, skin etc. That and the hair they leave around the house.

A couple of months ago my brother brought in his friend's female staffy as his friend left the country and she had no home.
We later discovered that she was pregnant and we now need to rehome some of the puppies. The staffy mom is a great dog with a gentle temperament, we do not know what she crossed with.

I have a male staffy cross puppy white with black spots that I need to re-home to a loving forever home. He is wormed, microchipped and his first vaccination was done. Experienced dog owners are preferred. I unfortunately do not know how to post pictures here I will happily email you pictures if you are interested email me.

Have just rescued a kitten from the engine area of my car. Heard the kitten calling occasionally since yesterday pm but only tracked it down today and after some effort managed to extricate the kitty from the floor of the engine area , fortunately the kitten is well and ok , not injured. Dunno where or when it managed to get into my car as there are no cats in the immediate neighbourhood ??? and I was away in the West of Ireland at the weekend - could it have originated there and survived the trip back to the midlands ?
My problem is that I am not in a position to look after the kitten on a long term basis as I am away from home a lot and I don't want to impose on friends or neighbours to care for the kitten in my absence !
I phoned the ISPCA National Refuge Centre in Longford as its quite close by where I live and was told quite curtly that they do not accept animals from the public, irrespective of whether they are rescued or not ! The lady said that they only accept animals rescued by their Inspectors - maybe I should have left the kitten trapped in my car and called them !!!!'. She suggested that I call Longford SPCA , which I did, to be told that they only operate a shop/ fundraise for animal welfare ! The lady in Longford SPCA suggested that I bring the kitten to a local vet to be put to sleep if I was not in a position to look after it myself or couldn't find someone to look after it !
I explained that having just rescued the kitten I didn't want to have it put to sleep - she had no other suggestion as to how this kitten could be rehomed !!
Any advice please ? I would love to look after this little kitten but as I am away a lot I wouldn't think having it locked up for long periods would be caring or the decent thing to do , yet I don't want to see it euthanised, having survived so far and just after being rescued !
Any advice or help would be much appreciated !

Crandara Pet Clinic , just up the Dublin Road from Lidl, take kittens from the public for rehoming. Hope it's ok to mention this, as they aren't a rescue?

Chiko is a super dog. Very smart, gentle, loves kids, swimming and playing fetch. Due to health reasons I am not able to walk three dogs and Chiko is a high energy dog that needs plenty of exercise. The other two dogs don`t need
    as much exercise.

It would be great if he went to a good home. I won`t hand him over to anyone.

PS. He is house trained and trained to walk off the lead.

PM me if you are interested.

    Dublin area.

Hi all. I'm looking for a home for a male Cocker Spaniel. The poor thing is being neglected. He's trapped in the corner of a small garden day in day out. I'm finally after convincing the people responsible that it's a terrible thing to be doing. I've taken it on myself to find him a home. He's very gentle and loves kids and other dogs. Based in Waterford. Pm me if there's any interest please.

Hi, I've been looking after a young male tabby cat who appeared in my back garden recently and who I'm sure has been abandoned. I've made every effort to find out if anyone in the area owns him without any luck.. He is eating very well and appears to be in excellent health and in great spirits. Loves to play. I leave him in the garden during the day in case anyone is looking for him and let him sleep in the house at night. He's an extremely friendly little cat and would make a great family pet. Anyone out there who'd be interested in giving him a good home?

I've contacted a few rescue groups to see if they could give him shelter and rehome but nowhere seems to have room atm.. I would take him in permanently myself but I have a Westie and can't continue indefinitely with the current setup. So I'm hoping someone out there can help! Anyway here's some pics of Tabby:

I have sent you a private message with details of a lady who may be able to help you
I would always recommend rehoming via animal welfare organisations who do home checks etc

Hi keithg89 just wondering about the cocker spaniel? You said he was good with children but do you know if he is good with small children (I have a three year old).
Also if he's stuck in the garden I presume he's not used to walking on the lead or properly socialised. For the dog experts would that be too much for an inexperienced person to take on? We had a cocker spaniel up until a few years ago and since then I haven't had much contact with dogs. Thanks.

There is a female GSD that is urgently looking for a foster home.
I have been there today as I wanted to help, but unfortunately Jago was a bit scared and I am working full time at the moment cannot leave them alone all day.
She is about 5 years old, good with dogs and children.
It is very important to find a place as the finder cannot keep her :(

To update from my earlier post, Ive thankfully found 2 excellent homes homes for 3 of my dogs, have two left, 5year old female GSD and 3year old male Husky/Malamute cross. Have 4weeks before I emigrate, so need to find these two homes (or a home) ASAP.

Details are linked in my sig.

Its a tough decision and not one made lightly, He's a blue Dobberman (dont let that put you off) If anyone is interested please feel free to PM me

He's house trained and well socialised since very small and will get on with other pets when introduced.
