Also, remember the Shels Deportivo game? When Depor scored their second goal, RTE decided it would be pointless to show the rest of the game and they changed mid game to a Liverpool game!

I'm fairly sure they changed to Athletics, some long distance race which I don't believe included an Irish athlete. They still showed the match with a small screen(about 20% of the overall screen) but it doesn't change the fact it was a disgrace.

I don't expect Bohs to make it to the play-offs round, but if they do I'd imagine RTÉ would stick to showing Arsenal over Bohs.

4/5 seems a very good bet for Salzburg imo, best of luck to Bohs but I can see them going out by the odd goal.

They'll show what the public want them to show.

They'll show what the public want them to show.

They're the media, they essentially control peoples interests and if people want to watch Arsenal over Bohemians then a lot of that is their doing.

Looks like the Salzburg manager is pretty confident. I'd take that as a good omen. Goteberg,Djurgardens and of course Gretnas overconfidence cost them against Irish teams before.

Players will put in less effort if they think it'll be easy for them.

Any streams lads? The stream I found is showing the Bayern Munich match it seems and not the Bohs match.

EDIT: Stream working. Foreign commentary but it's here nonetheless.

I'm just thankful that the commentator doesn't talk all that much so I can just hear the atmosphere in the ground. :)

Gwan the Bohs. More importantly, gwan the Irish football.

Salzburg a bit uncomfortable, why isnt brennan taking the frees?

lol edit guess he only taking them from the left, nice free tbh.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 51,342 ✭✭✭✭That_Guy

Bohs seem to be handy enough from set pieces in those type of areas. I think Salzburg are gonna have their hands full if Bohs continue to cross into the box like that.

EDIT: Apart from the last cross.

Nice passing from Bohs there. Do they pass like that all the time?

Sure tis a grand night to be in the Connacht street end. Hopefully bobs fans will realize what away fans have had to put up with for years.

Seems to be grand now. Unfortunately I'm heading out for beers so won't see the bloody second half.

Come on Bohs!!! Do Ireland and the LOI proud.

    Brennan having a stinker.

    Bohs holding out though.

Here's hoping they can hold out to the end. Hasn't been the greatest of matches by any means but the support is fantastic for Bohs tonight.

I'd say the whole second half Bohs will be on the defensive. 1-0 heartache could await...

They've played the first half in the right way, conservative but not defensive.
But it'll be hard to not drop back in the second half, when you know in the back of your mind all you need is to hang on. Hopefully Fenlon gets them in the right frame of mind to keep playing.

The Austrians could end up getting desperate now, the task is simply put for them. If they don't score they're out of Europe.

If Bohs keep up this performance level there wont be a cow milked in Phisboro tonight!

    Awful game, suits Bohs though

    Just under 8,000 I think.

Bohs have got to keep playing football here, they're tiring badly but if they keep the ball it'll make it much easier to run down that clock or even create something. If they keep just giving the Austrians the ball back, they'll get caught before the end.

Luckily, Red Bull are absolutely woeful in attack.

8,000 is not bad to be fair. If they were to put temp seating in the terrace I take it the capacity could get up to 15,000?
Bohs are getting a little too deep for my liking at this stage. Reminds be of Mick McCarthy's Ireland in Croatia many moons ago.

Killian Brennan had a very poor game in the first half and now Anto Murphy is having a shocker. Just 10 mins left now though.

Never a truer word spoken. I'm glad the game wasn't on RTE. Puke football like that will only deter people from actually going to LOI games.

  • Registered Users Posts: 239 ✭✭sd08

Such a horrible way to go out! You always sorta knew it was going to come down to something like that, but still one moment, always seems to happen with irish teams.:(

The chances Fenlon would do anything else were not good.

Funny, I thought they were invincible..

They played for a 0-0 draw a got bit on the arse. The right team went through, they were the only ones trying to win.

True, but with a player like Ndo, they should have at least been trying to break on the counter attack.

I wonder when/will we ever see a LOI team qualify for the champions league.

RTE are a disgrace for not showing it btw.

If RTE had shown it, what good would it have done? It was a terrible game that would have only given the barstoolers about the quality of the game. Bohs could have won but fenlon's cowardly tactics put them out

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,060 ✭✭✭Anto McC

    What a beautiful result :)

Bohs werent good enough, but Strazburg were awful too...think they deserved cas they kept the ball better and got down the flanks a few times. It Zagreb are anyways half decent they'll walk the floor with them.

Horrible way to lose, but didnt deserve to go through.

As a Rebel Army man I honestly wanted Bohs to go through. We need exposure in Europe to bolster the rare LOI V Real M or LOI V L'ool type games. the standard is getting better and better Summer football and fulltime contracts came in, but money is the only thing that can keep it going, hopefully City can get back to European games down the Cross á la Nantes etc. Maybe next year will be better for LOI teams in C.lge. but I fancy our teams tomorrow night to go through, derry especially as they boys had 4 players not granted visas for the game by the british enbassy.... good for something I suppose!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,567 ✭✭✭delta_bravo

They gave it a go in the first half but completely sat back in the 2nd. Crowe was awful, no idea why Fenlon still plays him. On another note the actions of the few bohs 'fans' waiting outside the Salzburg dressing room to hurl abuse at the players was not on and stupid. Its

    Just back.
Crowe was terrible. Why was Byrne out on the right? I would have prefered him up front, Crowe on the bench and a proper midfielder out on the right. Anyway, thought a draw would have been a fair result. Agreed on others that it wasn't a great game. Sick way to lose.
Salzburg had some fecken massively tall players.
