Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Sky+ audio out

Hi, I hope this is in the right place but I'm hoping someone can help.

I'm connecting my Sky+ box to the PC to record to the computer HDD, but there is no audio.

It's connected from the scart out to the PC via one of these and then connected to the line in on the PC.

I've tried connecting to the mic in but the volume is way too high even at the lowest setting and I get lots of horrible clipping.

Everything on the computer seems to be fine, drivers updated and working etc. and the same audio out from the sky box works fine with the surround sound and even just straight to a pair of headphones.

I have to admit I'm baffled by this, I'd appreciate any ideas.....

Have you checked your cables on something else to rule them out as the cause?
You may just need to 'wiggle' the scart cable to get sound, as it may not be making full contact
Have you checked the capture device with something else?
Have you checked the scart output with your tv to verify that works?

Your PC may not be the problem

How exactly is the sky box connected? you mention scart, but you should use the s-video and red/white phono outputs to connect to the capture device as it will give a superior picture, assuming you are using a scart to RCA adapter, (yellow/red/white)
