Do you owe money? If so, pay it.

As said, a debt collector is just a guy with a car, he has no power to do anything. If you're taken to court, that's a different affair all together.

Rent is paid, property is unsuitable for habitation due to damp. Verified by Environmental Health Officer. Have given proper notice, followed all proper procedure as laid out in law and as advised by Threshold. Landlord threatened us with Debt collectors IF rent was in arrears which it has never been. Regardless, he should be going through the PRTB, even if we were at fault. He is going outside the law and being threatening. Got on to Mabs and BOI. He cannot affect our rating.

There are times when a 'debt' should not be paid, just because an individual or company makes claim to monies from you does not make it legitimate.

You appear to be confusing a demand with a debt.

No, not really. Many companies treat the two as the same; they demand money for something and then treat it as a debt if not paid. This happens even when the company that is demanding the money in the wrong.

There is really nothing more annoying than some wisemen saying....if you owe money....just pay it!
    Statement of the year!
Most of the people in debt these days are genuine with kids to keep & do their best to survive.
Most people don't willingly get into debt & most are desperate for help & advise.....smart comments don't help!
