Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Does Peat lose it's heat giving potential with time ?

My brother told me that Peat (turf) which is left in a shed for a few years loses a lot of its heat giving potential.

He reckons new peat is better.

I fail to see how my brothers assertion is true.

Anyone know if/how old peat loses it's calorific value ?

My personal experience is that providing it's stored in a shed with some air movement, sod turf improves with age, like seasoned timber, it certainly equalises out in moisture content and probably looses another few % over and above what it lost on the bog.
