Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Lough Key Forest Park is nice for a walk and whatnot. Just hope the current weather passes...

Lough Key Forest Park is a must. It's the top tourist attraction in Roscommon.

The River Shannon - I think there are baot trips available on the rive at Carrick On Shannon - just a 30-40 minute drive from Roscommon town.

Strokestown house is worth a visit but I suppose it would bore children easily.

well. we all visited lough key forest park.
    2 adults & 2 kids.
Its a lovely place but the admission to the centre is over priced.

My advise is bring a picnic & bikes.
Spend the day there without ever paying for admission to the centre/tree top walk/internal playground or that swedish house.

enjoy the lake and the forest walks and the ducks.

its also over an hours drive from roscommon town.
so stay in boyle if this park is your main attraction.

i must say roscommon town was great. great shops and a few nice restaurants. 2 namely.

1: down near the main athlone roundabout was an italian chipper that was excellent and good value. ( not morellis on main street )

2: a sensational italian restaurant called MOMO's beside morellis.
fantastic italian food and very reasonable. i'd detour by 20mins for lunch in this place.

so all in all for the 2 days we spent there roscommon was very good.
