Recently, my motherboard on my crappy old Dell Dimension C521 died, I was actually glad, since it was a crappy low profile case and I wanted a normal size graphics card.

Therefore, I am planning on ditching the case, mobo, and PSU.

I only have 110 Euro to spend, can someone help me to find a decent case, mobo and PSU?

Btw, my processor is Athlon 64 x2 4400 socket AM2

    Thanks for the help :D

Hahaha, I was looking at all the same thing 'cept for the PSU.

The mobo is cheaper on Komplett.

    http://www.komplett.ie/k/ki.aspx?sku=442599

And I found a slightly better PSU on Komplett too.

    http://www.komplett.ie/k/ki.aspx?sku=340760

    Btw for the case, the reason for it being on the clearance page;

    MS-Tech LC-402 ATX Midi Tower
    Missing front USB cover
    With transparent side panel incl.
    a multi coloured case fan
    Front USB + audio
No power supply included (select below)
    4x 5.25" external bays
    7x 3.5" drive bays (2x external/5x internal)
    Dimensions: 200x 414 x 490mm (WxHxL)

Anyway, thanks for the help, I was really thinking of buying all from Komplett, so I can collect everything at one place and no need to wait for each item seperately. ^^

decent mobo, case and PSU does not equate with 110 euro. ;)

for starters, don't have time to check mobos right now. you'll regret buying a cheap case/psu really. no point for the sake of 30-40 euro that's in it.

    +1.

€110 almost equates to a rubbish mobo, case and PSU though! :p

Even from the Pickup Point it still comes to over €110! :P

Well, thanks for the opinion, I can only offer 110 :P don't have a job, therefore, kinda poor.

    Which should I go for?

The M1 isn't bad. I had one, liked it. Nice and tidy. Airflow not the greatest though. MSI mobos are fairly solid but completely unspectacular in the budget range, but will suffice. The PSU is the only thing on that list I would outright condemn, the CX400 would be an extra 17 - I'm sure you could stretch to 120-130? Seriously, it's worth it.

Said PSU is allegedly a budget SFC unit. I said allegedly :D Only reason I took it over the decrepit Axpertec is because its more modern - indeed, most likely a more modern revision of Superflower's budget range. As it is I doubt it has APFC and the only reason it lacks a voltage range selector like the AXP is because Superflower now seem to keep their budget range in the 230V area (i.e. Europe!). No switch = no telltale sign of PPFC. Caught me out on Superflower's own OEM units recently! But if you're desperate they'll work fine (literally fine, not "don't ask for more than 200W and it might not blow up" :D), they'll just have horrid power factor. SFC's APFC-equipped models are actually quite good... and quite pricey to boot. CX400 wins hands-down, though :P

Well in this case, I might can stretch for 30 Euros and get these.

    PSU: http://www.komplett.ie/k/ki.aspx?sku=404885

    Case: http://www.komplett.ie/k/ki.aspx?sku=354717

    Mobo: http://www.komplett.ie/k/ki.aspx?sku=442599

This looks fine to me, but any other suggestions?

Order placed, and added http://www.komplett.ie/k/ki.aspx?sku=313969 a CPU cooler which I needed since the one that came with Dell doesn't work with other motherboards.

Uh-ohes! That CPU cooler, apart from being just a wee bit [CENSORED], isn't compatible with your new mobo! :o

  • Registered Users Posts: 243 ✭✭kingbob387

?! it's compatible with socket 940, so I guess it works, doesn't it?

  • Moderators, Technology & Internet Moderators Posts: 18,377 Mod ✭✭✭✭Solitaire

Different mountings for both. That cooler probably won't fit if it doesn't actually have AM2 on the list. Given its age I'm not surprised; that's a pretty old piece of kit.

you can just cancel the order online.

  • Registered Users Posts: 243 ✭✭kingbob387

How? I was looking around on Komplett, couldn't find a place to cancel the order

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,346 ✭✭✭darealtulip

if my memory serves me right, you go into accounts then you search the orders and then you click view, you can cancel there.

  • Registered Users Posts: 243 ✭✭kingbob387

Yeah, I went to that, but the stuffs are being picked already, therefore I can't remove them, so I sent them a e-mail saying that i want the cooler removed off my list, waiting for a reply.
