Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    Please help!
I have an interview for a VEC post-primary position next week & am baffled! I have only ever had 1 secondary interview & need advice. Also I think I applied for a Biology position but my interviews for 'Science', does this mean I'll be JC only??
Are VEC schools very different to DES schools?
    I'd appreciate any info, Thanks!!!!

VEC interviews will generally follow the application form in terms of the order they ask about things.
There is quite a transparent set of criteria. I can't remember the exact percentages just now but you get 'points' for service within the scheme, ability to meet the needs of the school, qualifications and interview.

Is your interview to go on the panel or for a particular position?
I have only ever worked for CDVEC schools, so I can't comment on whether it is different from working in a voluntary secondary school. I suspect that outside the religious thing, there isn't a lot of difference in the classroom.

I have been interviewed 3 times in 6 years for different posts with a VEC and am thankfully now in a permanent job.
You're interview will be in front of a panel and each panel member will concentrate on a different area of the position/education/your qualifications. Most VEC's are now offering year to tear contracts as a result of all the cuts so I wouldn't be stressing too much about the history of the vec, policies etc... You will most certainly be asked about your teaching experience and what you've learned from it, classroom managment strategies, innovative teaching methodologies etc... Know your subject and cirriculums at both junior and leaving cert level really well and be able to give examples on how you can make learning your subject appealing to students. And don't waffle because more than likely someone on the panel will have a good knowledge in your subject area!
    Best of luck
