Ok, second post of Boards.ie. Let's see how this goes..

    FREEVIEW hook up.

We have just moved into a little place in Maynooth and need to get our TV channels going.

    NOW

We have a satellite dish ALREADY on the side of our house from previous occupants, AND we have the coaxial cable running into TV area, PLUS, we have a brand new Freeview box.

All we need is someone to make it all talk. so we can have freeview channels on our plasma TV.

DOES ANYONE KNOW A LOCAL INSTALLER/SPECIALIST IN THE MAYNOOTH / NORTH KILDARE AREA (or someone who will come here) WHO IS:

    1. Reliable / Honest
    2. Reasonable
    3. Skilled in this area.

    Thanks again.

Freeview will not work in Kildare. It is too far from Wales or Northern Ireland to pick up the British channels, and the Irish channels such as RTE1 are broadcast on a different type of signal to British (as Freeview is a British term for Digital TV, then the box will only pick up the signal Britain uses).

If you have a satellite dish installed, then you need a Freesat box to access the free channels. I would suggest that you post in the Tech, Cable and Digital TV, Satellite forum as you will get the best advice there.

I can recommed Aerial and Cable Relays (U1 Prosperous Road, Clane, Kildare ph+353 45 868081). I think the chaps name is Willie, had HD freeview and DTT aerial fitted by them - good price, excellent neat work and showed up when promised.
