    Supposing you had a non 3 handset like the N97 and you wanted some 3 applications on it like say the 3 skype client and maybe it would require 3 firmware (it's actually the 3 security certificates) could you update the phone on NSU with say 3 UK (or AT / SE) firmware and then get the client and then select 3 Ireland as your country? This assumes updating on NSU puts 3 certs on the phone too which might be wrong.

    0586308 is the 3 UK code for the N97 but it's only v10.0.012 but
    0585872 is the 3 AT code for the N97 and it's v11.0.021
    0585893 is the 3 SE code for the N97 and it's v11.0.021

    Doubt it - don't think the 3 UK and 3 IRL firmware would be interchangable like that.
