Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

i feel it's a big ask for the saints today but i'm staying optimistic, we should have put the tie to bed in Inchicore last week. one piece of inspiration can do it for us. . .i just can't see who it's gonna come from (big Jamie on the end of a set piece????)

Good news for Derry. I reckon they should win.

Pats might have it more difficult but i see no reason why they can't win.

    Good luck to both.

Anyone know exactly why they were denied visas? I can't remeber the Irish government ever doing that to a visiting team.

Also does that mean that in an international game, we could deny loads of players visas on the same grounds as above? Sounds like a can of worms being opened to me.

Best of luck Pat's and Derry tonight.

Pats will get a few opportunities this evening – the important thing is that they take them. Regardless of the woeful season so far, losing to Maltese opposition is simply unacceptable. If they keep their composure and keep things tight, they’ll be fine.

It’s nonsense according to the Times:
SPECULATION THAT Derry City’s Europa League opponents Skonto FC would field minus four players who had been refused visas by the British Embassy has baffled their English manager Paul Ashworth ahead of tonight’s trip to the Brandywell.

“I’ve no idea where this story has come from,” he said yesterday, insisting the squad which faced Derry in Riga last Thursday night was available to face Stephen Kenny’s men this evening. “We’ve travelled with the same squad and I am not aware of any problems in relation to visas,” he insisted.

I see on aertel Pat's are playing Dinamo Zagreb in the next round, I'd like to see RTE try and cover that game, they might find it difficult...

Then all LoI grounds would be full this weekend. RTE and SKY would have a bidding war (worth millions) for the rights to show 2 LoI games a week. All the leagues best players would stay here to play their football. On the streets of Dublin, Cork, Galway etc people would be leaving their barstools walking outside the pub taking off the Liverpool, Man Utd, Celtic jerseys and burning them in the middle of the street, then they'd be making a bee-line for their nearest sports shop to buy a LoI jersey. JP McManus and other such investors would be racing to buy a Irish club and pump millions into them. Trapatoni would tell the plastic paddys to f*ck off and would be calling Murphy, Healy, Deegan into the Irish squad and not only would we qualify for the world cup but we'd win it. Oh i do lament, if only Bohs had won.

    Derry and CSKA Sofia aswell.

Lets see how long it takes them to realise Bohs are the ones who would have been playing Dinamo in the CL if they had got through last night... Errortel strikes again!

Derry match just finished 1-0 too.

    Good night for Irish football.

I think that screws up our home match with them in a fortnight now. :(

Congrats to Derry all the same.

I was at the Brandywell tonight and Derry thouroughly deserved the victory. Riga barely threatened apart from the first ten minutes of the second half.

Oh, I was sitting behind the Riga fans. All four of them. :D
