Tool have a huge following, and many people like them, but what other bands have we all found who have a similar sound and effect on the listener?

For me I have only found 2 bands that are really as complex.
    First is "Meshuggah" from Sweden
Second is "The End" from Canada.

What a let down, with that thread title I thought you had news of a new album :(!!

I thought tool's last album was a bit crap. And their live show is very underwhelming. That gig they had there in the point really turned me off them tbh.

Sorry to mislead, but I got your attention!

Well purely from the point of music engineering 10,000 days is a masterpiece.

But aaaaanyway, can anybody suggest some bands that are similar but just as good? Has anybody found any?

A Perfect Circle. You've probably listened to them if you're a Tool fan but still.

If you're into Meshuggah i'd highly recommend anything a certain Mr. Mansoor (aka Bulb) has produced, also check out Animals as Leaders.

    Grr got my hopes up!

There's a few bands that do the Tool thing very well

Try Chevelle for the vocal similarities

    Riverside are also good.

Check out Tesseract. They are more like Meshuggah than Tool but well worth a listen anyway.

    Dredg

    Isis

    +1 On Isis

A couple of years back i tried to find bands that sounded like Tool and in all honesty never found anyone, moreso just better bands with their own unique sound.

And Tesseract are sounding pretty good

You might like Hurt also, I really enjoyed their album.

But be advised the album is quite sombre, not that metally really.

I'm pretty sure Bill Hicks might disagree with you there.

But yeah thanks for the videos. Been listening to Chevelle a long time but they have kinda softened up

If you like Animals as Leaders you might get a kick out of Ozric Tentacles.
