Does anyone know of dog training classes locally in Portarlington or Portlaoise?

Not many nearby. They're in the phonebook & can be expensive (eg €130). Can't recall them name of who was recommended to me but if you post them up I'll have a stab. some have websites: google.

In case you are still looking I was in Vet Care in Portlaoise today and saw a notice for dog training classes. It's called Happier Hounds and is in Spink, near Abbeyleix. They also seem to organise puppy parties and early socialisation classes, as well as beginner's agility which I might check out for my two.

They are also organising a Dog Show event on Sunday 23 August in aid of Irish Dogs for the Disabled. While I'm not into any form of beauty pageants for humans or canines it might still be fun for doggies and their dependents to mingle as there are no such outlets in the Midlands... except when you go to the vet. Plus it's for a worthwhile cause.

If you ring Vet Care I'm sure they can pass you on the details for Happier Hounds.
