Buying Car - Need Help Please

Hi Guys
I know yer all probably fed up of help me buy a car threads, but i really need help.
Iv gone mad from looking and various motors and i dont know what to buy.
Basically i have about 10k to spend, 12k maximum.
The car i get will have to last me for a few years atleast what with recession and all.
I dont know what kind of car i want really.
Iv been looking at sporty cars, jeeps, family saloons, you name it iv probably looked at it.

So id be very grateful if ye could give me some suggestions as to what i should buy/consider.

Give us a bit more info, do you need back seats, how many miles do you do in a week, what age are you and how many years NCB's. What styles of car have you seen that you like?

There's no way of knowing what to advise until you give at least some some idea of what you like/want. Do you have a family/kids on the way? Are you limited insurance-wise to less powerful cars? Do you care about tax? Do you care about economy? What cars have you driven to date and which ones did you like? The list of questions is nearly endless tbh.

If you can't answer any of the above or you don't care, may I suggest this

Sorry lads.. my bad.
Im 29,male. No claims bonus for 11 years.
Not restricted insurance wise.
My cars were civic, mazda 6, nissan patrol and now currently driving a toyota avensis.
Have always had a thing for a subaru impreza wrx, but id say it would drink juice.
Always liked bmws, vw touraeg, honda accord (i know i have strange taste)

I do about 12-15k miles a year on average, going on my mileage for the last 4 years
Back seats isnt a big deal really.
I have no kids.
Economy isnt that big a deal but i obviously dont want to be throwing money away either on big thirsty engines. But saying that it was a really nice motor id do the sums and see if it was affordable

Confab, that audi is lovely but a 4 litre petrol would be impossible for me to run money wise

12K will get you a huge amount, but you seem a bit worried about the fuel, so nothing above a 2.5L say? Test drive a WRX maybe, see what you think. Maybe a 1.8T A4 or Leon, Octavia VRS? Still a bit vague tbh.

Ya id say 2.5 is my limit honestly. The tax after that size will crucify me.
Id like something that is kinda new, since im spending 10-12k i need the car to last me a few years.
Ya the octavia vrs is a lovely car. I might try and take a WRX fro a test drive during the week.
One small question, i saw a 2005 WRX and it 2.0l and then i saw a 06 WRX and it was 2.5l. they both looked the same though. Was there no 2.5l in the models before 06 or something.

Which is a better model/car 2.0l or 2.5l, are they all 4wd

WRX will be horribly expensive to run. Fixed costs are high (insurance and road tax), and running costs are higher (fuel, servicing, tyres etc).

Brilliant cars, but only for out and out petrolheads imho.

I was going to suggest a GT too but No leather in the one above would put me off, that and the colour.
