fyi Eamon is chatting to Pat Kenny on radio 1 at the moment.

If you had just arrived in the country you would think the broadband situation here was sorted!

Ryan of course, Kenny seemed to know what he was talking about and relayed a lot of listeners comments.

Seemed mostly be relaying Listener comments rather than a proper interview.

IMO it gave Ryan a soapbox.

Always seems to be the way in the media. Doesn't matter how hard the questions are from listeners if the host can't pick up on the lies and misdirection from the person they are supposed to be interviewing.

They need to learn something about the problems before they do these interviews but most won't. They just refuse to put in the effort for something that most people don't seem to find boring when it is on the radio but complain about all the time to anyone else who'll listen themselves.

What are you going to do? We can't say they aren't trying to get through to the public and get them outraged about the situation, it mostly seems people are too lazy to get worked up about it and try to change the situation.

I'd love to see Ryan face someone with teeth, like David Frost (of Frost/Nixon fame)... Even Jeremy Paxman would tear strips out of the waffle that emanates from certain minister's mouths.

Sadly, people in positions of influence don't like aggressive interviewers because they tend to be made eat their own words if there's any hint of waffle. That's why RTE have usually gone softly, softly in their interviews. Some people would call it a light touch - I'd call it being overly cautious in a 'let's all be friends here' manner.

Anyhow.... Ryan sounds like he's actually beginning to believe the spin being fed to him, which is a bad sign. Probably not the case but you never know...

Ryan would piss himself if was being interviewed by Paxman.
