I have broadband already, but its goes down constantly, on the phone to perlico for months trying to sort it out and last thing that it could be is the wiring in the house

Have you many phone extensions in the house? You could try to ring perlico and ask them straight out, how much would it cost to get eircom to replace your extensions and the master socket, as some of them are damaged.

Try plug your router directly into your MAIN phone socket. If this improves the quality of your service perhaps you should get a wireless reciever for your PC and leave the router there.

It's up to perlico to get an engineer sent out if the line has constant disconnects. Just nag at them to send someone out (say that you've tried troubleshooting before, and all their suggestions, and they haven't helped so far) and they'll tell you of the possible price. If you're happy with that, then ask for a technician visit.

If you want to get a direct quote for rewiring the phone sockets, try the electrical forum. To get there, go to Rec>Home and Garden>Electrical. One or two of the members should give you a good guesstimate for the price of such a job.
