Hi people. Thanks for reading my post.. Basically I have just installed a CAT 5E ethernet LAN @ home wired back to a 24 port L3 switch, How would I go about stress testing to see what the true speed Im getting is? Ideally Id like to do it as cheaply as possible... Is there some free software tools I canm download to this…

Cisco Network Magic (http://www.purenetworks.com/) has a network speed/ download test function.

To do it manually/simply I would share a say 400meg file on a normal windows smb share, and time copying it from another pc...
