Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Yes but he followed through with his other leg which means a yellow. I think those tackles should be ok but they are not with the rules the way they are now.

Can't believe that this was our biggest win since the 5-0 away win against Derby over 12 years ago (scorers that day were Lee Bowyer x 2, Nobby Solano, Matty Etherington and Jonathan Spector). And biggest home win since 2005 (Harewood's hattrick against Villa).
Those seasons don't seem that long ago....

Hopefully Reid will get a run-in tomorrow.
I know it's only Gillingham, but please, please, no Roberto, and no Sanchez.

Very full strength side, looks like they're going for back-to-back big wins

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,972 ✭✭✭cdgalwegian

Missed 1st half; commentator said no shots on target for West Ham!? "Picking up the pace" now. Perfect time to bring on Ajeti alongside Haller to see how they fare together.
'Spose Reid coming on would be best at home in the London Stadium; for a rapturous return.

A really nice job there. We looked very disciplined throughout the game.

I was the biggest naysayer but Moyes has really put a bit of steel/discipline into this team. Usually we crumble at these places.

You can see at the end with the players that they believe in him and thats really important and very valuable for us going forward

Out of interest, anyone know how management re-appointments have faired historically in English football?

    Found this. https://thefootballfaithful.com/managers-manage-same-premier-league-club/

Moyes wanted Stuart Pearce back at the club but the Board blocked it.

They said he was too critical of them when he left the club last time!

Looks like we are getting Darren Randolph back from Middlesborough as talks are progressing today.

Randolph deal is done now. Supposed to be around 4M

West Brom and Bilic at home in round 4.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,972 ✭✭✭cdgalwegian

With Fredericks out injured for about a month, only Ben Johnson as right back can fill in for the aging Zabeleta (coz utility player supremo Antonio still out injured also).
    Always something.
Good to see Fornals getting better and better in midfield though.

Fernandes (wary of jinxing it but it seems close) will be a helluva signing if we can manage it. Legs in the middle of the park is probably out biggest problem. I wasnt sure moyes was a step in the right direction but dare I say it things are looking up

*cue a 3-0 loss tomorrow and the deal falling through

    This is a great game.

Back 3 means Zabaleta further upfield. Anderson behind Haller again- looks good.

  • Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 11,441 Mod ✭✭✭✭Hammer Archer

Final ball has been awful from several players; Lanzini, Creswell and Zabaleta to name a few.
Anderson last season would have buried that chance.

Randolph needs to shift himself back in double-time.

We have been very poor tonight. Really lacking in the final third

    Snodgrass immediately making a difference

Randolph is injured and failed medical at first attempt. He isnt going to be much good to us. 2 keepers needed, 1 of which needs to be first choice quality or we are finished.

    F*ck VAR

  • Registered Users Posts: 250 ✭✭The Jman

Var is the worst thing that's ever happened to football!!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 38,247 ✭✭✭✭Guy:Incognito

    F*ck VAR

Nothing to do with VAR, its the handball rule.

Same incident if VAR was in last season would have been goal.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,563 ✭✭✭The White Feather

Well either way I'm p*ssed off

  • Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 11,441 Mod ✭✭✭✭Hammer Archer

Think it's peak West Ham that in pretty much every season prior to this we've been ridden by referees, the last season at the Boleyn being the worst of the lot. Yet the first season VAR comes in we've had (I think) the highest number of goals chalked off because of it.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,070 ✭✭✭pjmn

So pissed off with last nights decision, firstly VAR in itself isn't the problem, it's the rule, but then it becomes VAR's problem, when they don't implement the rule correctly, see the detail of the rule re deflections (which is exactly what happened last night)...

    Fabianski injury a disaster...

    Tough run of games ahead...

The above is just a summary though. The actual rule is subtley different which is what is causing the issue:
    Handball
    Law 12
    Changes
    • Deliberate handball remains an offence
    • The following ‘handball’ situations, even if accidental, will be a free kick:
    • the ball goes into the goal after touching an attacking player’s hand/arm
    • a player gains control/possession of the ball after it has touches their hand/arm
and then scores, or creates a goal-scoring opportunity
    • the ball touches a player’s hand/arm which has made their body unnaturally
    bigger
    • the ball touches a player’s hand/arm when it is above their shoulder (unless the
player has deliberately played the ball which then touches their hand/arm)
The following will not usually be a free kick, unless they are one of the above
    situations
    :
    • the ball touches a player’s hand/arm directly from their own head/body/foot or
the head/body/foot of another player who is close/near

The bold and underline bit excludes the goal scoring scenario from the accidental deflection exemption. So the rule was followed. It is stupid of course but VAR is not the issue and was applied according to the law unfortunately.

I'm still reeling from the result. It was an exciting, if frustrating game. But a calamity by the sub goalie, and two disallowed goals...:(

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,015 ✭✭✭Ludo

Getting away from the VAR crap anyway,we didnt deserve much from that game. Our final ball was woeful all night. So many were wasted.

Losing Fabianski was a disaster. It'll be interesting to see if Randolph is still signed or not seeing as has failed the first medical and is injured currently. Would be odd to sign an injured keeper to replace another injured one.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,972 ✭✭✭cdgalwegian

Looks like Randolph in goal today. Phew.

Anderson a doubt; I'd like to see Fornals and Snodgrass behind Haller, in a probable 3-4-2-1.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,972 ✭✭✭cdgalwegian

    500390.png

Stlll no second striker up front with Haller; Ajeti still not being used in this role. Maybe he is just crap.
Reid on the bench awaiting his long-awaited home return.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,972 ✭✭✭cdgalwegian

Even apart from the silly unnecessary decision to replace Fornals with Masuaku, Fornals is better being more central, behind Haller. Lanzini was useless up front with Haller; this should have been Ajeti there; Moyes did Pellegrini's trick of bringing him on with 7 minutes to go. Haller club record signing, and not used properly; sitting just behind out-and-out-striker. If Ajeti isn't getting full games, we need a new striker to partner Haller, or we simply won't get goals.

I think we will get relegated this year with Moyes. I really hope I'm wrong but I just think he is out of his depth.

Only one down so far but the game looks over. 17% of possession.

Praying we can turn it around and get a draw at least

Front two have been terrible, can't hold onto the ball.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,563 ✭✭✭The White Feather

Good news.... We are up to 23% possession now!

This has been awful stuff but at least only 1 down

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,563 ✭✭✭The White Feather

    Correction 2 down.

Thats the worst 45 mins I have seen from any team this year.

Tonight is the night where I now believe we will be relegated

Pathetic first half, no effort and we look like going down
