Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Have to be beating Millwall...........should have won that.

  • Registered Users Posts: 9,839 ✭✭✭Jelle1880

I dunno, Millwall were up for this, this was their cup final.

We'll smash them in the return, definitely going over for that one.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 28,404 ✭✭✭✭vicwatson

Should have won it as in we had plenty of chances to score today, Bentley missing a sitter, chances galore but just finish them today...

  • Registered Users Posts: 686 ✭✭✭WindmillWarrior

Sounds like the whole thing was a bit of an anti-climax. Still could be a good point come the end of the season.

That's twice in 2 home games Lansbury's won us a pen. The lad sounds fantastic.

  • Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 11,441 Mod ✭✭✭✭Hammer Archer

Course we can't count on our Southerly neighbours to do us a favour, 3-0 down to Derby. As it stands we're up to 4th. An Ipswich win against Boro would move us up to 3rd.

We need to be lashing the likes of Peterborough out of it. Dominating the game but alas thus far only one goal. If they get an equaliser I'll, I'll......feck this computer out the window

  • Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 11,441 Mod ✭✭✭✭Hammer Archer

It's set up for it. We've played 4 games at home this season and conceded a goal in the last minute in every single one.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 28,404 ✭✭✭✭vicwatson

Yeh we seem to brick it in the last few mins of ordinary/extra time.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 28,404 ✭✭✭✭vicwatson

OK 4 points from six (last two games).

Not convinced though, why isn't Baldock playing, he should have set up 4 4 2 today AND WENT FOR IT.

    Tomkins legend !!

  • Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 11,441 Mod ✭✭✭✭Hammer Archer

Yippee! Heart was in me mouth at the end.

Ipswich on Tuesday. Peterborough beat them 7-1 earlier so we should obviously beat them by 7 goals

Big Sam said something in his post match ramblings about not seeing the need to change from 4-3-3 (tho its defo more 4-5-1) while we're 4th and winning most weeks. But he said 4-4-2 is something he will be trying at some stage.
Ipswich will be a tough game, they're playing well. I'd like to see Baldock and Bentley in the team for this one. Very unlikely to happen, tho he may change Faubert (who was poor by all accounts saturday) for Bentley.

How the **** does this keep happening ?

  • Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 11,441 Mod ✭✭✭✭Hammer Archer

If every game lasted 88 minutes we'd be unbeaten and top of the table. Sounds like we definitely deserved the loss tonight.

Almunia in! Great signing at such short notice

Now all we need is Tevez back and we'll be laughing :)

Would have been surprised if we didn't put in a cheeky loan bid for him :D I'm sure we'd probably be the only English team he'd have any intention of playing for. He was extremely childish in what he did but having said that, I'd have him back at the Boleyn in a second.

I suppose Almunia is a decent emergency keeper for the Championship, but the sooner Green is back, the better. Anyone know the last league game he missed?

In fairness to Big Sam he's putting together a good experienced squad.

    Top manager.

On trial at Burnley. Supposedly hasn't really lived up to expectations.

Jaysus these commentators on 5 live are hard to take.
A ball was lollopped into the area recently

One point from the last six - we need to up the ante...

  • Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 11,441 Mod ✭✭✭✭Hammer Archer

Thankfully most of the teams around us (bar Southampton) aren't really capitalising on this ****e form we're having at the moment.
Boro drew today while Brighton and (it looks like) Derby lost. Hope the international break means some of our players are back from injury for the next game.

Our next 4 games are absolutely massive:

    Oct 15: Blackpool H
    Oct 18: Southampton A
    Oct 24: Brighton A
    Oct 29: Leicester H

    We're back and we're 1-0 up :D
By the sounds of it we're doing well.
In other news, Bentley has gone back to Spurs.

  • Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 11,441 Mod ✭✭✭✭Hammer Archer

3-0 up. Baldock gets his first two goals for us. Needed this result as both Derby and Boro are also leading.
Millwall in the bottom three as it stands
    Edit: 4-0 :D

  • Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 11,441 Mod ✭✭✭✭Hammer Archer

Win on Tuesday at Southampton and we're top.

I love it when a plan comes together..... ;)

  • Registered Users Posts: 9,839 ✭✭✭Jelle1880

Had no way to watch the game, but sure sounds a convincing win.

  • Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 11,441 Mod ✭✭✭✭Hammer Archer

Saw the crap 30 second highlights of the game on BBC
Blackpool's defence was crap for the goals. Baldock's first was a one on one with the keeper. We've sorely needed a good one on one goal scorer over the past few years and hopefully, in Sam, we've got one :D

We'll have to have another great performance on Tuesday to break Southampton's 100% home record. Defence will have to be fantastic as they've got an average of 3 goals per home game.

  • Registered Users Posts: 686 ✭✭✭WindmillWarrior

Was at the game, we were class. It could have been 8-0 easy! Carew and Baldock were superb together up front. I hope we'll see that partnership a lot more often. Both players are much better than Cole for me.
In midfield Dioup was a beast, mopped everything up and gave the 2 centre halves probably the easiest game they'll have all season. Nolan was great as well in a much deeper midfield position. Collison looks like hes getting back to the player we all know he can be.
At the back we had it fairly easy as Blackpool really were poor, but its still a great win with 2 big away games coming up...

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 28,404 ✭✭✭✭vicwatson

Listening on BBC Radio 5 live sports extra - That David Oates and Steve Claridge are the worst two commentators I've ever heard.

Mattie gone off and Picquionne on :( - should have put collison on. Sam is gone 4-3-3 on it now.

    We'll take a draw here :D:p

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,070 ✭✭✭pjmn

Yeah - listening as well - thought JC would have come on for Taylor {who looks like he came back too soon} - appear to be under pressure in the centre at the back - I'd take a draw {but would love a win}....

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 28,404 ✭✭✭✭vicwatson

appear to be under pressure in the centre at the back

And Faubert being aniihilated in right back

It's not all going our way by the sounds.....

Come on a better second half, lets make some noise !
