He's an 18 year old in his second appearance, he's the only striker left on the bench and he's up front on his own. Benrahma is a winger and wouldn't be doing any better.

Looks like Moyes agredd with me

    Worth a try.

    3-0. Noice!
With 14 games to go, we've now more points than we ended up with last season.

Newcastle doing somethign against Chelsea now would be lovely, a few days at 4th would be great

  • Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 11,441 Mod ✭✭✭✭Hammer Archer

Right, let's not blow this like Spurs did last time.
Note to self: Shut the fcuk up.

Irons are on the up wow congrats on the win against Spurs

Fantastic result with lots of gritty performances. Rode our luck a lot; Dier defending for our first goal, VAR decision going our way for second, near poxy bizarre goal from Son in injury time, but deserved win. Only 31% possession, but excellent defending and dangerous going forward.

Feel much better now that I've replaced the batteries in my pacemaker!!! :D

Great win, even though would have to admit we were under huge pressure towards the end...

Great lead to hang onto. Lingard's goal celebration really shows that the players are thoroughly enjoying themselves this season.
At this point last season, we were 3rd from bottom. I keep pinching myself and trying to enjoy it while it lasts. I've been taking pot shots at my Liverpool supporting friends for the last couple of weeks. I'm sure we'll drop down the table at some point as fatigue will almost certainly come into it but, for now, I'm just enjoying looking at the table.
I've already written off the City game next weekend and chances are we won't get anything off Man U in the few weeks, but if we can get 9 or 10 points from the next 6 games, we'll have every chance of at least getting a Europa League spot. And Astra Giurgiu look like they won't make Europe this season, which would give us a huge chance of making the group stages :pac:

It's unbelievable, even if we didn't get another point we'd finish around 12th. It's crazy to think potentially we could be playing Man U in a couple of weeks for a shot at 3rd.

Pity as we did well for 30 mins. I would have taken a draw before the game but really wrote this game off

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,563 ✭✭✭The White Feather

    Come on you Irons!!! 1-1!!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,972 ✭✭✭cdgalwegian

Uh oh. Jesus on for Aguero. Heaven help us.
Passing was dire in first half with Hammers, but much better in second half. Ben Johson having torrid time first half, looks less gaff-prone now.

On a plate for Diop to get the equaliser and he misses!

Still though we played very well so it shows we are improving a lot

Very assured performance against the Man City machine steam-rolling its way to the title. Regardless of where we finish this season, the team is looking really well organized and committed. COYI.

Gave it a rattle, reckon if we had Fab in goal we'd have got something from the game.

  • Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 11,441 Mod ✭✭✭✭Hammer Archer

Utterly bizarre to be watching Chelsea v Man U and hoping for a draw so we stay 4th and are still within reach of 2nd.

Down to 6th today! Could be 8th by the time we play next! What's going on??? Moyes out!!!

  • Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 11,441 Mod ✭✭✭✭Hammer Archer

Very positive starting lineup. Delighted Fab is fit again. Defend well and we should have enough to see us through. That is, unless Mr. Dean makes it all about him again.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,015 ✭✭✭Ludo

    wow that was close

15 mins gone and we haven't got going at all.

Leeds look like the home team

Goal from a penalty after it was saved and all!!

Phew!!! Now we are going at least :pac:

    2 up now!! :D

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,563 ✭✭✭The White Feather

We started very slow but took over the game then.

2 up and so close to getting a third. Dawson hit the post.

We need to just keep it going and they will get frustrated. I think we can get more goals tonight. They look very weak at the back but good going forward too so we have to be careful.

  • Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 11,441 Mod ✭✭✭✭Hammer Archer

Just sit back and hit them on the break. No need to take any risks.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,972 ✭✭✭cdgalwegian

Some good moves from Benrahma since kick-off. He's desperate to break his duck- really hope he does it here.

Really glad we got those 3 points. That pushes back up in amongst things. We were in danger of slipping away.

Now we still have a game in hand as well.

Hopefully we see a reaction from Leeds now when they play Chelsea next! That would be great for us!

  • Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 11,441 Mod ✭✭✭✭Hammer Archer

Happy days. Previous seasons we would have crumbled yet we came away with a clean sheet.
Next 6 games define our season. We have Man U, Leicester and Chelsea in there along with Arsenal and Wolves. If we're still in the mix after those, then fcuk me I might start believing. We've got a relatively handy run in with only Everton being the tough game on paper.

It's one of the oldest clichés in football, but a great team wins even when they're playing poor. I don't think we were poor, but we rode our luck and two nil is a flattering score. It's obviously an important win considering the upcoming fixtures.

It's bizarre. A lad who got relegated with Watford last season is all of a sudden Bobby Moore reincarnated.

He's exactly the type of player Liverpool needed this year.

Nobes to hang up his boots after next season.
What a legend that man is. Going to be a strange day when his name isn't appearing on the team sheet or on the bench.

  • Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 11,441 Mod ✭✭✭✭Hammer Archer

Fornals is going to be a big loss today.
Chelsea, Everton and Spurs results went our way.
Please just let it be a better showing than the FA Cup game (though wouldn't say no to a 0-0).

Seems like that was too much to ask.

    Lucky to be 0-0

But I would take a draw if it was offered!

Ever-cautious Moyes has them in fortress mode, same as with our Liverpool loss, which doesn't bode very well. Pretty dour football. Moyes looking for draw obviously, and counting on set-pieces for slim chance of goals.
    Go for it Moysie!
