Sand with Topsoil

Was doing some paving at the wknd and now there is about a 6 inch dip onto the existing lawn. Its a small enough area, plus i have a load of sand left over from the paving work and was wondering is it ok to lay down a layer of sand on the exisiting lawn and then a layer of topsoil and top that with lawn seed. Or should i…

mix the two. I layed a mix of sand and top soil underneath some grass turf strips that I ordered in early June. They grass is doing great now on top of the mix. Sand and topsoil mixed will drain well.
