Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

This Pain

    Hi there,

So I have had this pain in just above my stomach area on the left had side (as I look down) under my rib cage, as I was worried I treked along to my GP - who found nothing, I asked to see a specialist and she was against it - said it may just be a bit of acid or something, but I pushed for it. I often get the pain and there is nothing physically there - that I can see.

So I have to wait until mid august, for my appointment - and have no idea what is wrong, perhpas an ulcer or something? I tend to get stomach pains after food, and at night time/ early morning it can be bad at both sides just under my rib cage, I am not asking for advice, as I can see this is against the rules, just wondering if I should be worried about what it might be, as the GP had no idea.

I'm just approving this post as I can see that you submitted it twice :) All unregistered posts take a while to appear as they must be approved by a forum moderator before they are visible.

The short answer is that you shouldn't worry too much for now, if the doctor thought it was urgent then s/he would have referred you straight away. If it becomes more frequent or the pain keeps getting worse each time then go back to your GP.

Just make sure to take note of exactly when this pain occurs each time, and maybe keep a food diary showing exactly what you have eaten each day between now and your specialist appointment. Each time you get the pain, try to rate it on a scale of 1-10 and make a note of it. If it's always in the same location make note of that, if it appears in different locations of the body note that too. Take note of when it happens, time of day, after eating or after exercise.

All of this will help the specialist get a better idea of exactly what is going on and s/he will probably ask these questions of you. If you have notes, then your answers can be more accurate. Good luck.
