There is more to that story than meets the eye.
Expect one of the papers to expose that story soon. I know the Mail and The Independent have been sniffing around just looking for the back-up/proof to what they already know.

So is Cowen and I believe she's related to Roddy Molloy - so they say!

If the people of Kerry elect JOD or Mr Healy Rae, at the next election. Then they(that constituency) should have all of their funding, grants and finances cut, completely. Starve them(financially) into growing a brain/moral integrity/social responsibility.

The same goes for Mayo, Donegal and Tipperary.

The electorate and as a corollary, the population of this ****hole republic, really deserve a collective hiding; the asinine, myopic, parochial cretins, that they are.

Aye, it will be interesting to see how much of that was for American trips and how much of her time there on such trips was officially recorded and explained as!

Another carraige of the Gravy Train derailed ?

Maybe after nearly 90 years in existence, the state will finally become a proper democracy, with so-called representatives actually representing and being accountable.

Why did it take NAMA and bankruptcy to trigger the will* to uncover this **** ?

    * Green Party & FF excepted

No chance. Looking at Reeling in the years over the last couple of weeks, seeing the Goodman affair, the Haughey reign, Johnson Mooney O' Brien site, etc etc and you'll see that plus ca change. Different people, same antics, same party. It's disgusting.

This is why the T.D.'s are so shocked . .

This is simply a part of the culture in the Dail. . . They keep giving themselves bigger pieces of the pie without question and assume its a god given right . .

I expect to see another scandal this time 10 years (if the Irish people bother chasing them up for clarity of remuneration!) . .

We let them away with it . . We always do . .

Reeling in the years - June 2020, another bombshell hits the dail as it transpires that 4 T.D.'s had been charging expenses for escort girls who they used outside of their relevant work. . .

Up until recently, the use of Call girls of T.D.'s has been questioned but ignored and hidden from public view. One T.D. in their defence said that they were entitled to rent 6 callgirls in one go, hire out a limo for each one, to bring to their house and fly them to kerry, using the limo to drive around every terminal, stopping in to book flights to random destinations with the company credit card. .

Questions regarding expenses by T.D.s had been coming up for months previous, but they had refused to discuss them. When the scandal then broke, they are shocked that the public don't actually trust them ! !

Disgust within the Dail reaches fever pitch, not since the last time that their expenses were questioned, have they been so irate and ready for action. One member asked how they were supposed to be able to look after their constituents without 16 personal members of staff (that included 4 children and 3 of their mates) getting over 75k each (not including expenses). Sure they were barely able to survive on the measly couple of hundred thousand they get for showing up at the Dail as it was . . And sure anyways, who are these people to ask them what they get paid . .

They then begun to talk about how the position was a privilege, but they were entitled to get paid (several of them doing interviews in one of their rented accommodations!). . . . :P

    Barack Obama - United States
    Salary in dollars - $400,000

The average American citizen contributes $0.0013 to Obama's salary.

    Brian Cowen - Ireland
    Salary in dollars - $341,000

While the average Irish citizen contributes $0.076 to Cowen's salary.

That's almost 59 times more than the Americans fork-out. That says it all

I want my $0.076 back....NOW ! I feel like I've been robbed, even at that paltry sum

Maybe we should just all chip in and pay the french to storm the Dáil for us?

The whole barrel is full of bad apples. JOD might have been the dirtiest one but theres a lot of purging to be done - shame it wont happen though

This is very true. And while my disgust at FF is at an all-time high (simply because more of their members have been caught out and because the party tries to excuse them at every turn) the fact of the matter is that there seems to be no political will - across all parties - to actually kick out the con-men, expense grabbers, wasters and liars that are there.

I'm assuming that not everyone is worthless - even within FF, there must be a few who wouldn't milk it or put their own interests first - but the fact that they're happy with the status quo until the media or a tribunal expose it shows that all parties are at least guilty of collusion.

And that's depressing; because even when we do get the current con-men out, the ones going in - while better - still won't be worthy enough.

Heard Gormley on RTE at lunchtime. Trib ran story about Gormley being ferried from one terminal to another.
Its mind boggling what they actually charge to chauffeur ministers and to be fair he said it was a bit steep.

O'Donoghue will get back in no problem at the next election. And when you ask some of the gob****es that voted for him why they did so, you'll get an answer like 'ah sure he's done great work for the constituency, he fixed that pothole on the main street, and kept the post office open for an extra few months'.

Until the Irish voters get this parish pump bollox out of their heads, we're going to be stuck with fu<kers like O'Donoghue.

Re the Gormley article.....is there no train from Holyhead to London ?

Or are we SERIOUSLY expected to believe that a crowd organising a conference on "climate change" send individual limos a 14 hour round trip to pick up each of maybe 100 delegates ?

    ...even a hired bus?

No wonder Gormley didn't mention JOD's €500 airport limo trip LOL!
He was at it himself! LOL

He said last week that every ministers expenses would uncover some "anomalies"....knowing full well HIS did !

Strike one. I'm sure theres other "anomalies" waiting to be released.

Ive asked my local TD's to explain their expenses and they can only explain 70% in each case (ie their mobile phone allowance, dail allowance and constituency allowance) Im awaiting clarification on the rest....

Bloddy tempted to put in an FOI request for the remainder.

    I just read the sidebar
Yesterday, a spokesman for Ms Harney said that the minister's use of the Government jet was in line with that of her colleagues

    Isn't that the whole fv<king issue ?

I mean, Myra Hindley's actions were "in line with that of her colleagues" - guess that makes them OK, so ?

To be honest, nothing surprises me with JG - he even flew all the way over to Bali for a conference on climate change!

I mean, that's like saying that Myra Hindley's actions were "in line with that of her colleagues" !!!

    IT'S STILL UNACCEPTABLE !!!!
EXACTLY. Its like the old chestnut that was rolled out by Cowan and Coughlan in respect of the FAS farce - "Roddy Molloy's severance package was in line with dept. of finance guidelines".

Eh, who wrote the fcuking guidelines? Someone in govt needs to look up the fcuking dictionary to understand what the word guideline actually means FFS.
    Its not a fcuking policy.

    We're bollixed

In fairness to some in FF (and I don't say that often) some actually do make an effort of save the state a few bob!
It's clearly not rocket science to some.

It'd be brilliant if it were 100% true, but isn't it pretty misleading ?

If you read the headline, it implies that "there and back" was €190....to me, "there and back" would imply that it included transport.

HOWEVER the text of the article says
On a trip to Tbilisi last November last year, Mr Ahern claimed just €191.28 subsistence

I'm not having a go here, because even RyanAir probably couldn't fly you there and back for €191; it's a hell of an improvement over O'Donoghue, Gormley & Harney, but the fact is that the headline is completely misleading.
