Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

I have 6 Birch trees at the back of my garden which have been growing now for about 7 or 8 years We moved into the house about 4 years ago and we dont really have a bogs notion about gardening. Thing is the trees are now huge and are about 3 or 4 feet taller than the house. In the wind they sway like crazy. Someone told me Im supposed to lop them or something. Who can I get to do this and how much should I expect to pay. Thanks Guys.

Price varies depending on who you get and what city your based!

If you have a friend with a loppers,a ladder and a basic knowledge of pruning your sorted!

Not being smart but trees are supposed to sway in the wind, that's how they avoid getting blown over. Particularly trees like birches which have relatively thin, whippy branches.

IMHO birch trees that have been lopped never look right again, plus they can weep badly from the cuts which will deface the bark and encourage disease. If you're worried about them I'd just get rid of them. They're a graceful tree but I really do think that lopping them ruins them.

I agree with GG, in that birches don't look great lopped. You have to do a good job to get it right.

I didn't so ended up digging out the one in the back garden. Made space to grow stuff though. Sad to see it go all the same...
