Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

I love the colour reproduction on those. Especially the first two.

thanks, god i've taken a few shots inside catherdrals that i planned to HDR (i altered shutter speed, constant aperture, and went for really dark images so the highlights are correct, and then really bright images so the darker parts are correct - sometimes with up to seven or nine stops between darkest and brightest) but when it comes to the photoshop stuff i can never turn them into what you've done there. very nice.

I was just about to post this when I noticed a PM from you regarding this. I can do what you asked but I suggest you try this first and if it dosn't work out then maybe I could give it a go for you.

This is the first time I've ever tried HDR so I'm no expert. Though, It's not that difficult. Just to briefly sum up what I did to produce these.

Step 1 - 5 exposures from -2 to +2. Then into lightroom and hit them with the preset General - Zeroed. This takes contrast from the image. Then used the recovery slider on each one to try and bring back some of the totally blown out highlights.

Step 2 - This is the Key. Exported them into Photomatix Pro 3. Basically this does all the heavy lifting. Ie combines the images and lines them up and some other stuff like reduce noise and chromatic aberrations. You then get an option to tone map the image. In here you have to be very careful not to go overboard with the settings.

My goal with this is to make image look believable and have a good range of tones and not like something from a CGI scene in Far Cry. Save this off as a 16bit tiff file and open up in Photoshop and do all your usual retouching stuff.

The retouching for mine was to make the image a bit more contrasty using Guy Gowan method. Then sharpened using FM's intellisharpen. Added a vignette by duplicating the top layer and multiplying it, then deleting a feathered (250) selection from that. Donno if this makes any sense or not.

Anyway, flattened it, saved it off as Jpeg with a custom action and Done. :)

Hope this helps you out. If not PM me your email and I'll see what I can do.

He has another one here in the North Strand just at the bridge that crosses the canal and railway line. Not as complicated and years old so it's a bit smashed now.

    lol
I really wish I had. I was out clubbing for my friends birthday at the weekend in Stockholm (where I took this shot) and my "friend" thought when he came in at 6am it was a great idea to get into our hotel rooms and attack us with a shaver. I have some strange missing patches of body hair :rolleyes:!

I won't subject anyone on the internet to a picture of that but for you own safety if you are in a hotel with this man lock your room, beware....... and keep one eye open ;)

I had the kiron 28mm f2 on sale here but nobody wanted it.
I also had my ef 20-35mm f2.8L on sale, and the same. almost had it sold on ebay at my asking price but took it down when I got some of these photos back, I want to keep it for wide angle, not sure how I'd replace it for cheap because I need to have autofocus for gig photography.

just my opinion but they would look better if you had a little noise in the black, or bring the black levels down a little.

thats why I got rid of my olympus, only way I could save high iso images was to bring up the black to get rid of the terible banding and noise, not sure what dslr u are using
