anyone try olive oil for dry skin conditions??

hi, i've been suffering with dry skin on my face for a couple of years now. i've been recommended to try extra virgin olive oil. i'm goin to start applying the oil as a moisturiser and also consume a tablespoon each day..anyone tried dis before with any luck??..thanks
