Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Hi folks, been researching this but have not been able to get this wokring,

I was able to do this on vista with a few clicks but not so easy on ubuntu especially at my level. So I'm hoping someone here can help.

What I hope to achieve and why:
My pc is connected to the internet via a wireless connection to the router downstairs.
I want to share this connection with my xbox360 via the pc's ethernet port. As said simple in windows.

So far i tried to use ics in firestarter ( may have got thsi set up very wrong) and from the network connections gui configured eth0 to manual

with the following . scroll down to see the setting i applied to the nic and xbox
    http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=269235

im at a lost as to what do next as im too inexperienced with lixux to trouble shoot with out help.

What I can say is that i got the xbox to see the network but that was as far as it got it failed the internet test. Also with both connections active the internet in ubuntu is also down, making me think the eth0 is taking priority

    Hi Calex71,
It is of course possible to do this using firestarter, but it's much easier to do it the way network manager intended.
If the option described below is not available on your machine, you are running an old version of ubuntu, and it will
be worth your while to update. This feature is not available in the 8.04 LTS release.

You should be able to right click on the network icon in the panel - the one with the bars for wireless signal - and select "Edit Connections..."
Select Add in the first tab for "Wired".
Call it "Share to ethernet" or something obvious.
Skip to the third tab - marked IPv4 settings.
Select from the "Method" dropdown menu the option "Shared to other computers" and click Apply.
It's the same dropdown you selected "manual" from.

Now if you plug your xbox in, and click on the network icon, the option "Shared to other computers" will appear.
Select it, and you should be good to go.
If it looks like you have the settings right and it's still not working, try removing the firewall software you installed!

    Good luck,
    NiallB
