Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

its a bit of a gamble in a few reasons, the cat may not fit for starters if ya get the wrong one, its hard to find a mechanic that fits second hand parts, the cat itself might look ok but it could be just as worse as your current one, your best bet would be to go to a place like quickfit or so and ask how much a spurious one brand new fitted is, your prob looking at about 200 - 300 euros but at least ya know your car wont fail the nct on emmisions ;)

I'd use a new, non-genuine part also. No more NCT worries. I can recommend someone in Limerick who did one for me recently (on a Focus) for 160 euro. PM me if you want info.

Also worth considering is why the Cat is gone. Is there another problem which caused the cat failure ? For example, a misfire (eg bad coil) letting unburned petrol down to the cat ?

Re. secondhand cat, these are quite valuable for recycling (or were last year anyway). Breakers can get about 50 euro for them regardless of condition, so sometimes not interested in selling them.
