Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Can anyone explain to me the obsession station bosses have with Anton Savage?

He's filled in for Tubridy, D'Arcy, and Cooper

    I cant listen to him...

I don't find him too bad, inoffensive and competent. Okay that sounds like faint praise but that puts him on a level above quite a few who are on all the time.

If he could fill in for both Tubbers and D'Arcy on a permenent basis then that would be just fine.

The people who own Carr Communications Fulton.

They're not with Carr Communications any more. There was a split in the camp last year - the Savages plus some other staff left and set up The Communications Clinic which does the same sort of thing as Carr Communications. Basically, Anton's parents are big names in the world of PR in Ireland.

Aaah yes heard about that, didn't realise they changed the name.

    Tks .

Stand to be corrected but his Da could be top dog in RTE.....or else he got a recent appointment to a high level position there. Definitely well connected both politically and otherwise. They have to be coining it with what with the local elections over, Lisbon II coming down the tracks and a general election(s) coming in six months.

Anton is competent as a presenter, maybe a bit stiff but he tries hard, god love him. Better standing in for Matt Cooper than Ray D'arcy as filling the latter's boots he is seriously exposed and over whelmed by popular culture, bon homie and the craic itself!

Tone it down please and enough of the petty personal insults.

I thought the OP's Signature was the reason for not listening to him.

    Silly me.
    I cant listen to him...

    Reminds me of the joke:

What does a southsider say on his first day at work?

"What do I do next Daddy?"

What does a northsider say on his first day in wor................ nevermind.

I'm not bothered who his parents are - he's a quality presenter and in most cases he is an improvement on the presenter for whom he is subbing.

+1...He's informed without being a know-all, he's engaged without being sycophantic, and he's pleasant to listen to.
A marked improvement on both Tubbers & D'Arcy, so...

I enjoy his motoring segment on The Last Word (and when he fills in for Matt Cooper too).

I got major lolz when he was drifting an R8 around a track (Mondello?) and Matt screaming "Oh Jeeesuuus" in the background.

I think he is okay as a presenter. It's definitely nice to hear an Irish presenter, tv/radio, that actually know what they are talking about when it comes to motors.

His Ma is coming on Matt Cooper to tell us how great Anton is.

    This should be pointless

Edit: silly me, she's pluggin a book

Glad Anton wasn't filling in for Matt today! That'd be weird.....it'd be like Tubridy interviewing Ahern or Cowen!

"I cant believe it's not tubridy"
I love the name though.. very funny..

Getting sick of his mother Terry Prone, coming on giving out about bureaucracy in the HSE, government , Fianna Fáil etc etc when he own nest was feathered by spin doctoring for members of the government... fk off Terry, you cant play both sides... unless you just sell your soul like George Hook or hired gun (with zero principles) Tom Parlon.
