Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    Hi all,

I got a virus on my laptop, would not boot in safe mode etc etc. So I connected it to my desktop and used a recovery program to find all My Documents and specific folders I wanted to back up. All the the data is fine but each and every photo has now been resized.

Normal size should be: 3294 pixels x 2176 pixels

But now they are: 3264 pixels x 2248 pixels

This has happened to each and every photo. Is there any way they can be changed back to normal. I can do it manually in photoshop (Free Transform etc) but theres no way I could do this to all of them, would take too long.

If it's the same readjustment on every photograph, you can save one action, and batch process the rest.

Set an action and then a droplet and put them all in.

Is it just me (or my monitor) or does the second photo (the one that has been allegedly resized) look as though it's in the correct aspect ratio ? and the first one (the normal size) looks all wrong ? I'm working off a WS monitor here in work, but I was under the impression that my pixels were more or less square :D

Also, I don't think I've ever heard of a virus that resizes all your images, although its not beyond the bounds of possibility I suppose ...

    -edit-
also, the S5800 has as a max resolution of 3264x2448 which is the actual resolution of the second 'resized' image above (not 2248 as the OP has written). So either the OP has mixed up his examples or something else is going on.

Unlikely that a virus would resize the images
But now they are: 3264 pixels x 2248 pixels

    think you mean 2448.

exif info on the second photo says it should be 3264x2448 which is what it is

might be your monitor setting that is wrong on the second computer

The virus did not resize the images. Possibly something during the backup process. But the software should not change the size for any reason, as it just reads all existing data, and copies it. There are no options to adjust relating to images (or any other data). Its just a data backup software.

Ah, I see. Well judging from my investigation and what Ghost Train says about the EXIF (and assuming you didn't switch the two images by accident) it looks as though that second image is actually the correct size. Maybe up until now you were looking at incorrectly resized shots :D
