    Just a question lads, does the 2006 passat tdi 1.9 have a timing belt or chain that needs to be changed and if so at what sort of mileage should it be done at.

    If you're in Cork county Barr, I see newmarket motors had a "special offer" in the paper a few weeks ago - €495 i think it was for the 1.9 TDI so not sure how special that is.

    VW recommend every 128,000kms, or five years.

    Would 400-500e be a fair price to get that and the water pump done?
