Go ahead and apply, you still can, but do it fast as there's not many left. Feck all now.

Port Moody is a distance outside of Vancouver. Not sure about the area as I've never been there but just know where it is. I'd get something a little closer if possible because you will most likely be getting a job closer to Vancouver. Good luck either way though.

Canadian CV - you can get templates on the internet easy enough. Just remember they're very eco friendly and like you to use the front and back as opposed to "wasting 2 pages".

Good point, they are very eco-friendly....
And change your title to "resume" they don't call it CV!

Oh ya forgot that, they call it a resumé. There are places off Broadway and Commercial that are really nice. Broadway Commercial is a really nice spot, your shopping will be cheap and the bars/restaurants are great. I lived there for a few months. It was great during the World Cup. Actually they have lots of stuff going on during the summer there.

Go! Do it on your own! Don't be afraid to put yourself out there. You'll have no baggage coming with you, you can get a completely new start, make new friends and be who you want to be. I'm going on my own and I can't wait.

Anyone know how long the IEC visa process takes, between the initial sending of the application form and the letter of acceptance being received?

They will send you an email to say you have been conditionally accepted and your application has been sent to London. The next one will be looking for payment and they will tell you the estimated process time then. Add 2-3 weeks for medical if you have to do one
It can very much vary, I posted mine away and they had conditionally accepted it and I paid the fee within 3 weeks, however I then waited another 15 weeks before I heard anything back from them to say I had been granted the visa. 3 of my friends got fully accepted within 3 weeks, needless to say, I was concerned for mine, but it was all good in the end! I guess they do random full inspections on some applications.

Go to Zen for breakfast! :)

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,457 ✭✭✭Lenmeister

Go to Bons - Nanaimo and Broadway, cheap and tasty fry! $3.99 for full breakfast if I remember correctly. $1 for tea of coffee.

    Application Confirmed 05/08/11

    Conditional Acceptance 08/08/11

Receipt of Proof of Payment 12/08/11

    1st Evaluation Phase Complete 15/08/11

    Application Approved 17/09/11 - Today!

Though I'm starting a course now so I'll have to wait for a year, though I might end up not being able to use it at all!

For anyone who has recently arrived in Montreal Quebec or will arrive before the 29th September we have an Integration and Networking night organised. The purpose of the evening is to help the new arrivals of Montreal integrate into society. There is a substantial Irish community located here and this gives you a great opportunity to meet new peers and also to network with many of the established Irish community who have been here for many years. The evening will prove extremely helpful in relation to finding out information about Montreal, the do's and dont's and also getting the opportunity to talk to people about prespective job opportunities or get contacts for companies located throughout Montreal. This is the second Integration evening, the first being held in February which was a huge success. It is a free event being held Downtown in Hurley's Pub 1225 Crescent Street and starts at 7pm. If you are interested in coming or need more information please visit our LinkedIn page http://ca.linkedin.com/pub/irish-immigrant-integration-initiative/39/939/274 and I can answer any queries or questions you may have. All are welcome.

It's an area of sales I never worked in before to be hones, but I was offered a job in that area but never took it.

    Why do you ask Helix?

PM me if you want to talk more into it!

might have had something for you if you were experienced on that side of things. it'd have been commission only initially (though high commission), and wouldve needed you to be able to hit the ground running
